Centrifude: S.A.A.F Air Refueling From a Boeing 707

Nice photos, but unfortunately the South African air force Boeing 707 air refueling tankers are no longer in service, they retired them in 2007 after these historic pictures were taken in Sweden in 2006

Nah don't worry about that, we're working on filling that gap very soon, in April when I was at the Rand Easter Show, I spoke to one of the Rooivalk pilots and he told me that SAAF was working on getting air refuelling capabilities, because what happened in C.A.R scared the crap out of our politicians in the because we couldn't get them air-support fast enough, so by the end of this year or early next year will probably have new heavy lift aircraft and some will be used as Tankers.

And maybe that's one of the reasons our President was in Russia with no one else but his Military Aids.

Oga Fynline, first clear and indisputable photo of a Nigerian army AGL ! Thank you sir !

I hope we got them in large numbers, every platoon of 40 soldiers in NE war zone should have one in the field, and every base should have four on guard around the perimeter to take out approaching Boko Haram vehicles from 2km away, and we need electro-optical sights.

Nigerian needs at least 1,000 units of the Automatic Grenade Launcher for anti-Boko Haram war !

if this was Λ south african war, am sure you would equip every soldier with one. The only language insurgents understand is force. If you want to force your enemy to the negociation table, you have to first drench him in fire that way, common sense requires that you negotiate to avoid total annihilation

Nope. If a platoon needed such capability it can be attached to the platoon from support units,if it was standardised in the army. Some people go as far as demanding each soldier should have a radio, whom is he going to call? The section leader?

each soldier equiped with Λ radio improves situational awareness and improves how easily the entire army can manouver without leaving someone behind

Impractical. The SA is still developing the technology other countries too, sensors to track movement of each and every soldiers. But many armies still lack MIL-STD data links and the software. Sensors can be installed on helmets or worn on writs.

so now let's say mike is drifting away from the main unit and straying into an ambush, although he has Λ gps tracker on his wrist, how would his commander be able to re route him if he doesn't have his own personall radio?

That's the responsibility of the platoon commander.

A typical platoon is made of around 3 sections, each led by a section leader. It is this leader whom is supposed to have a radio to communicate with the platoon commander.

The GSU (General Service Unit) is a approx 6000 strong paramilitary unit of the Kenya police. The GSU is primarily not intended to be used on a permanent static nature, they are a reserve force to deal with 'special operations' and civil disorders. Due to there definition in the constitution, Inside the GSU there is a special forces (SWAT like) unit (approx 2000) called the Recce squad, chosen from the best of GSU to undergo futher training.

Recce squad members undergo basic training at the Embakasi training school. The best recruits in academic and field performance undergo a further seven-month specialised training that involves VIP protection, handling and detonating explosives, security of vital installations, anti-terrorism, sky marshal (the undercover unit on board commercial flights (Kenya Airways) to counter hijackings) and rescue operations.

All recces undergo training in the same bases around the world, in Israel with Israel special forces(paramilitary management), US, UK (Warminster School of Infantry in Britain) and locally at the Ruiru college, Solio Ranch and Magadi Field Training camp.

There are three(3) units of the GSU-recce...

1) The Sky Marshal unit , the undercover counter terrorist unit on board commercial flights to counter aircraft hijackings. (obviously no pictures from them)

Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Nobody: 12:51pm On Sep 10, 2014
The second Unit is
2) Crisis response team that is always on stand-by to swing into action when situations threaten to get out of hand and normal police can't contain. Works more like SWAT team

ALL your arguments about Automatic Grenade Launchers and radio are very wrong in modern warfare, the British army learnt this lesson in Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Correct your errors please.

Every Boko Haram or ISIS terrorist Platoon of 4 vehicles on attack mission have a 14.5mm or 23mm long range infantry weapon with 3km effective range.

How will a platoon of Nigeria army defend itself from the above with Browning gun 1.5km effective range?

COIN war is a game of infantry firpower and need to survive when insurgents suddenly appear from among civilians and heavily outnumber an army platoon, the only mass k.iller weapon option for the army is a 2km range Automatic Grenade Launcher that can k.ill or injure 5 enemies at a time or knock out enemy Toyota 4x4 AAA gun truck with one direct shot on target.

Also, AGL is a secondary role 40mm mortar weapon for area denial or area firepower against a spread out enemy that outnumbers the army.

COIN war is NOT same as conventional war, experience has taught Nigeria big lessons, every 12 soldiers need a MGL, every 40 soldiers need an AGL, or else surprise swarms of Boko Haram Toyota Technicals with twin 14.5mm or 23mm heavy guns mounted on trucks will wipe out an army platoon in a matter of minutes !

An army of 40 soldiers platoon will have about 4 vehicles and can mount 3 with Browning or DshK machine guns and the last 1 vehicle with Automatic Grenade Launcher.

Army platoon of 40 men defending a location or area can fortify with sandbags and mount a tripod stand Automatic Grenade Launcher to knock out approaching enemy invasion vehicles from 2km away.

The army platoon of 40 men can also dig in trench and use their Automatic Grenade Launcher as a mini- Mortar by elevating the barrel and rain high explosives on an area to deny enemy access.

Infantry support weapons are heavy and manned by around 3 and more troops. Try absorb how army units are designed. Regarding radios,it isn't necessary at platoon and section level for very soldier to be equipped with one and they won't enhance manoeuvrability of the blue force.

Please do not repost these photos, Do not use these photos as evidence for a later argument. I do not have the authority to post these images.

The idea is to help us understand the terrain in the north-east.

We can see the terrain is mountainous, and would allow the terrorist shield or cross into cameroun over a non-existent border. The army has D-30 howitzers deployed in the area, we can see at-least 2 of them been towed by 2 Trailers.

I'm going to take down these photos by 12pm nigerian time

Its truly telling of the kind of idiotic leadership we have in all areas (bar a few) of government in Nigeria , the picture you just posted even though its little gave me a boost in confidence that our boys can accomplish the job, imagine what a media onslaught by the DHQ will do to Patriotism in this country. let someone drum it to Maj. Gen Chris Olukolade to do a better public relations with pic of the troops in front line. Boko Haram, through the BBC is winning the psycology war already. You need to listen to Nigerians in the country to know how much they hype Boko Haram above OUR VERY OWN soldiers (a three billion dollar funded military)! The south Africans are doing a better job even when they are not at war

is it a 250k dollar camera they can't buy or what? I believe there are press correspondents/journalists within the military. What exactly are they doing?

So many things are baffling in our beautiful nigeria. The essence of posting those sets of photos was to show the terrain, and the sort of equipment the army has deployed to the N.E.

The army leaves holes for unscrupulous elements like saharareporters to fill with their lies and support for terrorism/terrorist propaganda. It is the responsibility of every nigerian to support the military in her campaign against blood thirsty terrorists.
