Is Lagos airport the only one equipped with NAF assets in south west? Does the Nigerian army operate any combat helo?

There's Kwara, the logistics home of the NAF. G-222, Donier, basic trainer aircrafts are based there, although people would consider Kwara as North-Central. I also think Ibadan, not sure though.

The Army does not operate any Helos yet, although they are in the process of setting up an Aviation unit. They got pilots in training in Enugu, and mechanics who currently work with the NAF.

But seriously though I have no idea, this thing has flown completely under the radar

Built by M&G Durban and designed by KND Naval Design. Handed over to the Navy in February.
@Henry240 : Nigerian Customs ordered 30m patrol vessels from the Turkish company ARES, who then turned around and farmed the order to KND Naval Design. Why they didn't deal directly heaven only knows. Especially as KND is well-known in Nigeria, having worked closely with Nautic Africa/Paramount.

PIC 3: Nigerian Customs boats.

Thanks. Not sure there is any NAF asset in Ibadan with what I have seen there. We really need more equipments. Probably UCAVs. UCAV should be able to replace some attack helo at base where we have combat aircrafts on ground.

Sometimes i wonder why the Nigerian government doesn't deal directly with SA defence companies. There is just so much to gain from doing business directly, look at "Kazahkstan"..... I can't even spell the name of the country properly, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijian, countries that are virtually in the middle of nowhere, yet they are doing mutually beneficial business with groups such as Paramount engineering and Nautic.

I saw the Customs boats earlier on in the year, cute vehicles, but many questions abound.

UCAVs are not a force multiplier. You cannot use UCAVs in CAS, only helicopters and fighter jets can do that. As such a UCAV cannot replace an attack helo.

Infact, UCAVs are overrated, what any the air force needs is additional UAVs. Targets coordinates that are acquired are then shared with the fighter aircrafts which then executes.

Sorry but how are UCAV overrated? UCAV will deliver at the same precision a helicopter will without putting human lives at risk. UCAV are taking over from helicopters in combat except during escort with a transport helicopter.
Fighter jets still remain the only platform that cannot be replaced by drones and MQ-1 predator will perform CAS. I see no reason for a UAV when a UCAV will do better? It's Just like an unarmed A-jet flying with ISR.
I will love to know your reasons.

I noticed 2 things:

1. No mounts for heavy weapons
2. How are the boats compliment supposed to disembark? CB 90 H has a forward compartment for such things.

Also, who operates it? MRS boat squadron? 4 Special Forces Regiment?

A UCAV does not provide Close Air Support. What's the payload of a UCAV, how many 30mm's does a UCAV carry?

You don't call in a drone to provide CAS when you're pinned down. UCAV are primarily designed to carry out targeted strikes, this is because of their long endurance capability.

ISTAR and Targeted strikes and that's it.

Proforce, I'm rooting for this company to succeed, and i'm optimistic that they would. With the J.V they have with DICON, it's only a matter of time before we start seeing widespread use of their vehicles.

"The Navy alone this year purchased 120 patrol boats from 2 local companies, with our penchant for foreign, who would believe this day would come?"...... I did not.

They are supposed to launch an improved vehicle this september, so we'll have to wait and see how things progress.

A funny (and real) story from WW2

“The 75mm main gun is firing,” Lt Giles recalls, breathlessly. “The 37mm secondary gun is firing, but it’s traversed round the wrong way. The Browning [machine gun] is jammed. I am saying, ‘Driver advance’ on the A set, but the driver – who can’t hear me – is reversing.
“And as I look over the top of the turret, and see 12 enemy tanks, just 50 yards away, someone hands me a cheese sandwich.”

Please.

I live here.

These people are continually butt-devastated about everything.

A dingy with a fat man, transvestite and dog flying the American flag anywhere near Chinese waters would send them over the edge.

I miss the Koreans, they were unshakable.

Since the creation of AFSF, i no longer see regular SBS units and NAF Regiment carrying out operations in the N.E. Regiment stick to NAF bases/base protection, while SBS are back to the seas and creeks.
