This guy! You just want to get me into trouble. On-going series of exercises since March all over the country involving SF, Pathfinders, MRS, STF, CAT, TRT NIU, various civilian agencies etc. We were told to "go crazy with the scenarios". grin

I wonder if it has anything to do with the current "situation" on campuses...

No. The exercises have been held annually since 2010 and I think I mentioned here a year ago that we were busy with plans.. Every year more participants are included, more complexities, more scenarios etc. I somehow doubt the students would mount a simultaneous "attack" on Koeberg Nuclear power station, the Richard's Bay Terminal and a deliberate oil slick in Coega - as one exercise scenario demanded. grin

The only effect has been irritation - dates have been thrown out of kilter as NIU for example, has not been available.

What is the SANDF's Public Order Policing capability?

I have seen some pics of guys with gear for it, just wondering hypothetically... how many riot sheilds, batons, 12 guages et al do they have at the battalion level?

lol

They probably have meetings between the two countries to share logistics....

"Who has the Mig-29 this week? You guys right? Its flight hours are pretty high"
"Yeah, flew in yesterday"
"Ok, we will send over the spares. Could you send over a new engine for the SU-27 that defected to us 2 weeks ago?"
"No, its better to wait until the SU-27 defects back to our side, saves money on shipping the engine - DHL charges allot for bulk these days..."

Why?
I think the ethiopians have the Su27 and the eritreans operate mig 29s. but they have been stealing each others aircraft since the war started so you never know who has what in what quantity anymore

They're should defect down south. They could refuel in Zambia and fly straight to Limpopo. Having two SU 27s wouldn't be bad for a case study. smiley

Haha I find this hilarious. You mean if a US pilot runs away with a Raptor to Russia, the F22 now belongs to the Russian air force lol?

Eritrea gained independence from ethiopia the war fought in 1994.... they are a same people, infact the original eritrean airfoce was made of ethiopian migs......

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eritrean_Air_Force

they both rely on russian tech for air superiority, they both have authoritarian regimes hence the multiple defections on both sides, so russia doesnt seem to have a problem with them 'exchanging' every now and then,.... they might as well have joint airforce meetings to discuss who has what as patches689 put it cause its getting ridiculous

There is a gentleman by the name of SHEYI who at the slightest form of BAD NEWS will come here to report breathlessly about any set back and then will be gone for days on end. The other day PREMIUM TIMES reported that the LT.COL who was missing his second in command had now assigned to take over..... The CAPTAIN.
anyone who has any decency will know that the rank preceding LT.COL is MAJOR it is news like this that makes me cautious of believing halfheartedly what is written in Nigerian newspapers , something apparently happened the details are apparently murky however one should be cautious believing" unnamed/ anonymous "sources.
It does appear some Soldiers are missing while most have being rescued or have been found.

I think the problem is accustomed to the media. Here is a Reuter journalist:
The military forces of Nigeria, Chad, Niger, Cameroon and Benin are preparing a final assault on the Boko Haram jihadist group, Nigerian Defense Minister Hassoumi Massoudou has announced.
. When did Nigeria and Niger had the same defense minister? grin
