EVERY organization, profession and calling has a way of getting favour and support from its publics. Politicians have a way of garnering support from the public. During electioneering campaigns, politicians are in the habit of making promises which they hope to fulfil at the end of the election if they emerge victorious.
Most of the time, politicians hardly fulfil these promises before the end of their tenure in office. Ironically, most of them still come back to solicit for votes, giving convincing reasons while they were not able to fulfil their earlier promises, and now wants to go back to be able to fulfil those promises. However, those were then days of the old political order when the people’s votes hardly count. Today, a new order has set in. The people’s votes now count and politicians are held responsible for actions taken or not taken.
During his electioneering campaigns, the Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, visited many areas and local government areas with promises of given to them the dividends of democracy.
Isoko nation was among the local government areas visited and promises made.
Today, those promises are being fulfilled in the lives of the people of Isoko nation. Projects are being executed here and there to the happiness of the people
Recently, the Igbuku community in Isoko North local government area, could not hide their feelings as they mobilised to the private residence of the Secretary to the State Government, Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay, at Owhelogbo, Isoko North local government area, to thank the State Government for the street lights and other projects going on in the area.
According to the spokesperson for Igbuku community, Engr Jacob Ogri, the group were in his residence to formally thank him for attracting the dividends of democracy to Igbuku community, revealing that the community has never had it so good before and thanked the SSG for his leadership qualities.
Engr. Ogri lamented that the community was in disarray before, but expressed delight that Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay has in the last two years, given them a new sense of political leadership anchored on trust, probity, inclusiveness and accountability”,
The traditional rulers in Isoko land were also not left out as they mobilised to Owhelogbo to thank Comrade Macaulay and other Isoko sons and daughters for their contributions to the Isoko nation.
Speaking on behalf of other traditional rulers, the Ovie of Emede Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Johnson Egbo Ewhiri II, commended the SSG and other sons and daughters of Isoko nation for what they have been doing for the people of Isoko nation vis-à-vis the delivery of the dividends of democracy.
The traditional rulers gave the assurance that they would continue to support him and other well-meaning sons and daughters of Isoko land that have been contributing to the growth and development of Isoko nation and called for more socio-economic and infrastructural development in the area.
The traditional rulers, who were filled with joy promised to continue to support the policies and programmes of the state government.
Presidents General of the various Isoko communities were also at the residence of the SSG to also commend their sons and daughters in government, and to thank the Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan for fulfilling his election promises to the people of Isoko nation
In their separate speeches, the President General of Oleh Community, Primate Moses Ogbodogbor who doubles as the Chairman of Isoko Presidents General Forum and the President General of Igbide Clan, Barr. (Chief) Gordon Ovririe said that they were pleased with the dividends of democracy that those representing them at various levels of government have attracted to the Isoko nation.
As the people were showing appreciation for the good work of Comrade Macaulay and other sons and daughters of Isoko land, more dividends of democracy were also added as the SSGpromised to institutionalize a scholarship fund for youths in Isoko nation.
Macaulay who disclosed this while interacting with the delegation from Igbuku said that modalities for the take-off of the scholarship fund were being worked out, adding that the fund would take care of the educational needs of indigent Isoko youths who crave for intellectual development.
Comrade Macaulay said that the scholarship fund would take care of youths from poor background in Isoko nation who want to acquire education, adding that he was out to develop Isoko nation and that in the process of doing that, individuals would also be developed.
While stressing the need for youths in the area to be well focused, the SSG said that people in various communities in Isoko nation should, also, be politically focused, even as he tasked youths in Isoko land to fish out the ‘bad eggs’ among them and hand over to the police.
He gave the assurance that all the Isoko political holders are collectively working for the overall development of Isoko nation as members of one Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) family.
Addressing Presidents General of various communities in Isoko,Comrade Macaulay advised leaders of various communities in the state to be part of the monitoring process of government projects in their communities, saying it would go a long way in ensuring that government projects are well executed for the benefit of the people.
As direct beneficiaries of government projects, he said, the people should be the chief monitors of projects in their respective communities and report to the appropriate government authorities or agencies for necessary action where there are lapses.
Comrade Macaulay thanked the Presidents General of various communities in Isoko nation for standing by the government of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and for their unflinching support to sons and daughters of Isoko nation who were either elected or appointed into political offices.
Addressing traditional rulers also he urged traditional rulers in Delta State to continue to promote peace and unity so as to create the enabling environment that would bring about sustainable socio-economic, infrastructural and human capital development in their domains.
Macaulay noted that peace and security were some of the critical factors that could attract sustainable development to any community, adding that as Royal Fathers, they should ensure that their subjects live in peace with one another.
The SSG thanked the monarchs for their royal support to sons and daughters of Isoko nation occupying various political offices in government and urged them to sustain their support for the state government and the political leaders in Isoko nation.
The State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan CON, should be commended for fulfilling his electioneering promises to the Isokos; Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay should also be commended for being there for his people while the Isoko nation deserves more for maintaining peace, supporting the State Government and appreciating the good work of government.

Many thanks to our Leader Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay and to His Excellency Governor Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan CON for appointing Arc Joseph Ajiri Ogeh as Commissioner representing Isoko Nation on the board of DESOPADEC.
