Thank you for your interest, Ab025. Its a News blog but we want to steer clear from gossip that involves people's private lives. We all have private lives, which we guard jealously. Apart from that, any event that you consider news worthy, not articles, real events, politics, education, crime, society etc. Like the saying goes, 'when you see a man biting a dog that's news.'

Hello danielchioboy, thanks for your question. To start with, we are not interested in gossip. The scenario you gave can only be classified as 'gossip'. If you indeed have photographic evidence of a politician sleeping with someone then it becomes porn and we are not interested in that either.

Secondly, the cardinal principle of journalism is non-disclosure of source of information. You insult our integrity by implying that we will 'sell' our source of information to the highest bidder. N1m might sound like a lot of money but like my colleague mentioned in another thread, our reputation means a lot more to us. We guard it jealously and would not want to stain it especially on Nairaland.

Thirdly, we will strongly advise you not to ever put yourself in any such jeopardy that will make a politician offer N1m for your capture, its not worth it.

Nigerians are still celebrating the way a police officer was caught on tape demanding bride. I'm sure the person who posted the tape does not have any feeling of being in danger. Those are the kinds of human interest stories we will happily pay for not gossip.

Let us give you a tip: The awareness right now is still very low because we have only just started. We can assure you that if you send us a newsworthy story in the next 24-48hrs it will be published and we would ask for your bank details to send your money to.

From the look of things you are an experienced blogger and we will be happy to make your story the first citizen reporter's story we publish.

We are looking for eyewitness accounts and pictures taken by you.

At this stage, for us to consider a story 'not worth placing on our site' its either unverifiable (no convincing pictures), copied from another publication or gossip (please read our reply to @danielchioboy).
In a situation like that, well, nothing happens. We wont publish and we'll forget about it. which is why we have given you the guidelines.

On the other hand, if you can avoid the scenarios given above and send us a newsworthy story, with pictures that is of human interest in the next 24-48hrs its 99% certain to be published. Like we said earlier, the awareness is still very low so there's little competition for experienced bloggers like you.

Thank you for your interest, dayoade2007. We will advice you to file a report that you're comfortable with. If it's too short on details it becomes irrelevant, too long and editing becomes a nightmare. About 300-400 words would be okay. As regards pictures, two or three pix should do the trick.
