According to latest rankings by Alexa as updated this August shows that the world's largest social media network, Facebook is no longer the most visited site in Nigeria even though it currently has over 10 million Facebook users in the country

Since January 2011 when Facebook toppled Yahoo! to become the most visited website in Nigeria, claiming the number one position which was Yahoo!’s for years, its usage has continued to show significant growth until the first quarter of 2013 when it lost more than 1 million users in Nigeria.

Google.com, on the other hand, has now emerged the most visited site in Nigeria followed by Facebook.com, Google.com.ng, Yahoo.com and Youtube.com as at August 2013. While Nairaland (the No 1 indigenous Nigeria website), twitter and The Punch are numbers 7, 8 and 13 respectively

Although Nairaland was developed by Seun Osewa, but i must say that Nairaland is now fully "owned" by Nigerians home and in diaspora!
