Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Managing Director of Maslaha Seeds Ltd, Gusau, Zamfara, has urged farmers to desist from the consumption of seeds as it is hazardous to the health.

Mr. Abdullahi said in Abuja said that seeds were usually treated with chemicals and colouring to preserve them and make them “true to type”, stressing that consumption of these chemicals amounted to “food poisoning”.

He said that seeds were to be planted while grains should serve as food but he observed that some farmers instead consumed the seeds and planted grains.
