Brt Vehicle Catches Fire As 2 Die by Truequest(m): 3:59pm On Jun 04, 2008
Two persons died early this morning when two vehicles, a Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) and a private car had an accident on the Eko Bridge.

Sources told P.M.News that the incident happened between 7.00am - 7.30 close to Costain.

P.M.News gathered that the BRT vehicle, which was fully loaded with passengers from Ikeja, was heading towards Church Missionary Society (IMS) bus terminus on Lagos Island when the incident happened.

The driver of the bus wasreported to have lost control and the bus hit the private car from behind.

“Suddenly we heard an explosion and the bus caught fire and was almost burnt to ashes. The two drivers died instantly while others that were injured was rushed to Lagos General Hospital, Broad Street, Lagos,” said the source who witnessed the accident.

The BRT vehicle was being towed away when P.M.News got to the scene of the accident.

The accident caused heavy traffic jam which was being cleared by LASTMA officials at the time of filing this report.
