The Minister of State for Finance, Yerima Ngama, said on Tuesday in Minna that the Federal Government would spend about N1.7 trillion on salaries this year.
Mr. Ngama recalled that about N1.6 trillion was spent on the same goal last year, arguing that such huge expenditure on non-capital projects was not healthy for the nation’s economy.
The minister made the statement when he visited Government House, Minna in company of states’ commissioners of finance.

Don't forget to add the trillion we will pay for fuel importation.

Never forget that at least half the money allocated for capital projects will be stolen through inflated contracts.

And then you start to see why there is no development in Nigeria. With the way we recklessly spend our money, we cannot AFFORD development.

I believe the amount is what is being spent to pay both public and civil servants
As a nation, we really need to reduce our recurrent expenditure and stop spending the bulk of our money paying redundant civil servants aand thieving public servants

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.

Allocating a larger chunk of annual budgets to recurrent expenditure, to the detriment of capital spending is anything but healthy for any economy, spending 1.7 Trillion from the recurrent budget of 2.38 trillion to pay salaries of unproductive and redundant workforce is total madness ...
