CoCoLav: Hmm. Do you play chess? I'd have challenged you to take it up but chess has a way of taking over a person. Those who really play know what I am talking about. 1 Like |

CoCoLav: Did you know the number of possible ways ofplaying the first four moves for both sides in a game of chess is 318,979,564,000 ? The longest game of chess that is theoretically possible is 5,949 moves. According to the America's Foundation for Chess, there are 169,518,829,100 ,544,000,000,00 0,000,000 (approximately 1.70x10 29) ways to play the first 10 moves of a game of chess. And they thought a computer would solve chess! The longest chess game ever was I.Nikolic - Arsovic, Belgrade 1989, which ended in 269 moves. The game was a draw. There are 400 different possible positions after onemove each. There are 72,084 different possible positions after two moves each. There are over 9 million different possible positions after three moveseach. There are over 318 billion different possible positions after four moves each. The number of distinct 40-move games in chess is far greater than the number of electrons in the observable universe. The number of electrons is approximately 10^79 , whilethe number of uniquechess games is 10^120 . The first chess game played between space and earth was on June 9, 1970 by the Soyez-9 crew. The game ended in a draw. An old puzzle: If you put one grain of wheat on the first square of the chessboard, two on the second, four on the third, eight on the fourth, and so on, how many grains of wheat do you need to put on the 64th square? The answer is 9,223,372,036,8 54,775,808(appr oximately 9.22x10 18 ) grains of wheat. That's a lot of nutrition. The folding chessboard was invented by a priest who was forbidden to play chess. The priest found a way around it by making a folding chessboard. When folded together and put ona bookshelf, it simply lookslike two books. Kirk and Spock have played chess three times on the show Star Trek. Kirk won all three games. A computer called DeepThought became the first computer to beat an international grandmaster in November 1988, Long Beach, California. The longest chess game theoretically possible is 5,949 moves. The word "Checkmate" in Chess comes from the Persian phrase "Shah Mat," which means"the King is dead." The number of possibilities of a Knight's tour is over 122 million. The longest official chessgamelasted 269 moves (I. Nikolic - Arsovic, Belgrade 1989) Dr. Emanuel Lasker from Germany retained theWorld Chess Champion titlefor more time than any other player ever: 26 years and 337 days. In 1985, the Soviet player Garry Kasparov became the youngest World Chess Champion ever at the age of 22 years and 210 days. During World War II, some of the top Chess players were also code breakers. British masters Harry Golombek, Stuart Milner-Barry and H. O'D. Alexander was on the teamwhich broke the Nazi Enigma code. Some interesting facts arent they?
By the way, the lady playing blindfolded is Judit Polgar, a Hungarian woman who is the strongest female player ever. She only plays in mens events and at one time she was in the top ten strongest chess players in the world. The only woman to achieve that. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Chess is a better game! 1)It tells ur personality better than Monopoly(funny dude right) 2)Makes U smarter (in many ways) 3)Like someone said it's not a game of chance at all, if I'm better, then I'm better I play both very well so I can tell but monopoly is more fun cos u can't predict the next move(that's my own view) 1 Like |

mmmmm...... They are both nice games. They both have different aims and objectives, rules, tactics etc comparing them together doesn't seem right. It's like someone comparing fifa to wrestling. |

jayriginal: @the bolded....funny but true. I tried to learn it on my own but all I have learnt so far is that the pawns should be used first. |
Re: Chess Vs Monopoly: Which Is Best? by jayriginal: 4:00pm On Feb 16, 2015 |
CoCoLav: Well yes, you usually move your center pawns first to create room for your pieces to move out and conquer. Your opponent also tries to do the same thing so you have to outwit him strategically. |
Re: Chess Vs Monopoly: Which Is Best? by CoCoLav(f): 4:15pm On Feb 16, 2015 |
jayriginal: Yeah, I tried that but ended up having most of my pawns taken out so I quit and played monopoly instead. |

Re: Chess Vs Monopoly: Which Is Best? by joywendy(f): 8:14am On Feb 17, 2015 |
CoCoLav: okay get ready for your first lesson The game of chess is over 1300 years old and is one of the most popular games in the world. It has received more total thought time than many great works of art and literature. Like a great work of art, chess is a paradox on many levels. It's easy to learn but can take a lifetime to master. There are few games which can match its usefulness as a tool for developing mental abilities, yet it's downright fun. www.intuitor.com/chess/ Chess is a two-person board game which simulates a battle between two opposing armies. The board has sixty-four squares of alternating colors. 8 rows and 8 columns, rows lettered A-H and columns numbered 1-8. As you can see in the picture below One player will have a set of dark or black pieces and the other a light or white set. Each player has a set of sixteen pieces. which are: 8 pawns 2 rooks 2 knights 2 bishops 1 queen 1 king 1 Like
