Vaginal Pain.

One of every woman’s major complaints is vaginal pain. Pain in the vaginal area is completely common among women. It is probably a top complaint among women. And too often women do not do enough about this condition to treat it properly. Instead, they leave it untreated or avoid the remedies that could benefit them and reduce the pain they experience commonly because of vaginal problems. Therefore, it is vital for women to understand what causes this pain and how they can better treat it. In doing so, they will begin to cope with their pain and feel as though they can function normally. Here are some suggestions.

Where It Starts and What It Feels Like.

Vaginal pain is, of course, specific to women. There are a lot of different reasons why the vagina can hurt. Most of these are common and not an indication of a serious problem. Anyone with concerns, though, should certainly see her doctor, just to be sure.
Vaginal pain is usually dull, achy, and persistent. It can feel as though the vagina is sore, bruised, or tender. Sometimes the pain is sharper and more immediate, but that's not as common. The pain is also localized, not spreading into the anal area or the pelvis.

List Of Common Causes And Conditions of Vaginal Pain.

Several things can cause vaginal pain, and it's important to know when to call the doctor and when other treatments will work. Here are some common causes of vaginal pain:

• Rough or aggressive intercourse – one of the most common reasons for vaginal pain is from having sexual relations. If sex is rough, prolonged, or it's been a long time since the last time the woman had sex, the vagina can become sore. This is also true if the man is particularly well-endowed, if a woman is raped, or if an inanimate object is used to perform a sexual act.
• An infection – yeast infections generally cause itching and irritation, but this can eventually become painful. Scratching of any kind can damage the delicate skin around the vagina, further spreading the infection and causing pain and severe discomfort.
• Cancers or other growths in or near the vagina – it's possible that cysts, polyps, or tumors can grow in or near the vagina, and these can cause pain and discomfort. These may be obvious, or they may be located inside the body and will only be noticed with a doctor's examination. Persistent vaginal pain should be brought to a doctor's attention.
• STDs – many sexually transmitted diseases have few or no symptoms at all, especially in their early stages. Some of them, however, can cause pain and discomfort in the vaginal area. This should be checked out by a doctor, particularly if the woman has multiple partners or has recently acquired a new sexual partner.
• Painful Intercourse – for many women sex that is painful can cause vaginal pain. This is more common than most people realize. It can occur because individuals seek a new partner or try something new.
• Sexual Abuse – another reason for vaginal pain is sexual abuse. This problem can cause trauma and a lot of pain in the vaginal region.
• Menopause – older women can experience vaginal pain due to menopause.
• Vaginal discharge – while this is normal, it can become irregular and cause pain for some women.
• Vaginal itching – this is usually caused by external factors, however it could become a persistent problem if individuals are not careful and lead to other infections.

List of Common Treatment Options for Vaginal Pain.

Treating vaginal pain means treating the cause of it. Just taking something for the pain can help the woman to feel better, but it won't help her take care of the problem that started causing the pain in the first place. There are some common treatments for the majority of vaginal pain cases.

• Yeast infection treatments are advisable for women who are experiencing burning and itching along with their pain. If a woman has never had this problem before, she may want to consult her doctor, just to be safe.
• Different sexual positions or methods are also a consideration. If a partner is very large or if the sexual act is painful, there are lubricants that can help which you can get from our store and there are also other positions which may ease pressure on the vagina. If these things do not help or the woman develops other symptoms, a visit to her doctor is in order.
• Visit the doctor and ask him or her specific questions about the discomfort in the vaginal area. The doctor could recommend specific treatment options that could be beneficial to promote healing and a better life.
• Get help with menopause problems. This is something to discuss with the doctor and the sooner it is brought up the better.

Holistic Approach.

In addition there are several holistic approaches that could help soothe the pain that individuals may be feeling in the vaginal area. It might be a good idea to combine these approaches with other treatments for the best remedy possible. Here are some great suggestions for pain relief. In addition, there are many home remedies that could help individuals that are suffering from pelvic pain. These natural options are a great alternative to some of the other treatments available and they are often successful at treating cases of pelvic pain.

• Daily exercise will be beneficial to those experiencing vaginal pain. Although these individuals do not want to exercise because of their pain, often it will make them feel a lot better.
• Take a hot bath. Put natural herbs in the bath to promote healing. This will decrease the pain in the area.
• Relaxation is extremely beneficial for vaginal pain.
• Taking a break from sexual intercourse may also make a difference.
• Putting a hot pad on the outside of the vaginal area may provide relief for the vaginal pain.
• Use of condoms is recommended to prevent STDs and other vaginal pain related problems.
• Stop eating as much sugar. Instead add vitamin C.
• Blow dry the vaginal area. This is a great remedy for individuals that suffer from yeast infections.
• Lactobacillus will decrease the likelihood of developing a yeast infection. This is commonly found in yogurt. Try it. It will make a huge difference.

When to See the Doctor.

There are certain circumstances that may require the attention and care of a qualified physician. It is recommended to seek medical attention to aid in the recovery of vaginal problems, in particular for those problems that could get worse or will not go away, here are some guidelines to help individuals that are struggling to decide whether or not they should visit their doctor.

• See the doctor for abnormal discharge that is combined with feelings of fatigue, weakness, and sickness. In particular, it is important to see the doctor anytime the vaginal discharge is yellow or green.
• See the doctor if vaginal pain is accompanied by severe abdominal pain for more than 2 hours.
• Visit the doctor if the vaginal area appears infected, has draining spots, or becomes inflamed.
• See the doctor if vaginal pain is accompanied by a fever.
• If a foul odor comes from vaginal discharge, contact the doctor.
• Contact the doctor if there is mild, lower abdominal pain.
• Call the doctor if pain is felt during or immediately after sexual intercourse.
• Contact the doctor if a rash accompanies vaginal pain.
• Call the doctor if any sores or blisters appear in the vaginal area.
