Na like dis we go de dey?

My utmost pains is why shld the children of this political elites school abroad instead of dwindling here in strike with the rest of us? Why must they school abroad to have the best of academic concentration whil we are left in this mud. IT SHALL NEVER BE WELL WITH POLITICIANS FROM TOP PRESIDENCY TO THE BOTTOM WARD COUNSELLOR UNLESS THEY DO WHAT IS RIGHT TO FAVOUR THE MASSES - AMEN!

We students are left with no option than to hit the streets to the government houses nationwide including National Assembly.

Great Nigerian Students!!! What do we say?

Sharrap you celebrated go!at? What salary? Is there any law stopping those greedy ASUU people who want dia retirement age extended to infinity from contesting for senatorial seat? No just mak me vex this night gan

Could you please also remind yourself of the bill that was passed out recently about Senators having a lifetime salary..? between a Lecturer and a Senator who contributes more to this Nation and who should earn more, senators are only in position for maybe 4-8years and lectures can be there for even more than 30-40years, now do the maths and tell me who should get that benefit..? ya'all are just selfish forgetting that Education is paramount in a mans life and needs more attention.

The logical conclusion ASUU wants to arrive at is that they want the 2009 agreement to be fully implemented, not partial implementations as has always been in the culture of our governement. Over the years FG has shown insincerity in keeping to agreements, not only to ASUU, but to every sector of the economy and to Nigerians as a whole. That's why you and I are suffering bad governance today. This has been happening over the years and its now a normal thing for FG to be insincere and very abnormal for them to be sincere. Shall we allow this to continue from generation to generation? NO. ASUU has taken the bull by the horn with their stand. If at the end of the day they force FG into becoming sincere in dealing with them, and other sectors follows suit, and Nigerians at large follows suit, then the FG will have no choice than to do away with insincerity in dealing with Nigerians. Somebody, definitely, must start the fight and ASUU has started. Nigerians are good in complaining but they can't fight for their right that's why you see people here talking nonsense against ASUU. For how long shall shall the FG continue to dribble Nigerians? Somebody must start the fight and others follows. I understand that part of the resolutions by the lecturers before embarking on this strike is that they won't call it off, even if payment of their salaries are stopped, until government implements the agreement fully. If you want Nigeria to be good stop complaining, sacrifice whatever it will cost you, ASUU has started their own, somehow too the students are sacrficing(except the myopic ones here who are fund of talking nonsense against ASUU stand), be an encouragement to them rather than a discouragement. All of us as Nigerians have one common enemy in government- insincerity, and we must fight it to a total defeat. I SUPPORT ASUU.
who is this guy self? Are u an ASUU official...who is fighting insincerity...my lectures??...mayb my sincere lectures should wait until i graduate...ASUU nd fg sucks.

Aryourkunlay: Kudos to ASUU, as you make forth big strenght to earn your pockets with 3yrs allowances, remember that the Nigerian Students are growing old and ditter grey.. Dramatize your foolishness, as I am also foolish to have supported you. Now FG has approved N400b, you must have a good reason to keep us waiting at home, other than preserving your pockets for some allowance.. ..
You sound rather uneducated! You just jump into threads and comment without reading previous posts that could have given you the enlightenment you so desperately need! How many times do you need to be told that FG has not "approved N400 billion naira"? Assuming there was such amount, was it for lecturers' allowances? You seem so so gullible, believing every rubbish you hear from the mouths of government spokesmen.

Wen will u start to fight for general interst of d country? only to fight for urslves alone.

it has to start from somewhere, if other institutions/establishment follows the trend of ASUU, FG will get the message that their workers are now aware of their lack of interest in keeping to their promises, if you cant meet up with their demands then dont enter into an agreement just to cool them off...you cant accept an agreement with a company and later on say you want to bend the rules to suit you just because you think times has fly past and you now realize you weren't with your senses when you entered that agreement, hell no, you will be in court to answer that part. agreement are not meant to be bended, they are not Stupid Nigeria Constitution that can be altered at anytime.

Must everyone earn like a senator? Does d lecturer contest elections? Does he spend money on campaigns? Does he have a constituency to cater to? Does he maintain staff? Is his tenure just 4 yrs? If he so desires a senator's pay, y doesn't he join a party and contest elections as a senator?

Between a senator who serves just 4years and a lecturer who serves for his lifetime who should earn more...? and who contributes more to this Nation...? how many bill has the Senator who is representing your senatorial district passed out to improve your community/region..? i think you dont even know what education means, you just wanted to comment because you saw others commenting.

Very silly reasoning. Take this:
Must every one earn like senators-YES because their job is more important.
Do lecturers contest election- YES all their years of academic pursuit and competitions among fellow students is equivalent to wining an election.
Do lecturers spend money on campaign- YES they spend money to educate themselves before getting to that level.
Does he have constituency or staff to cater for- YES he has a family and members are his children and others.
His is tenure 4years- YES more than four year, the more reason why he should be paid better.
You can see that your points are the most silly on this thread. Mind you the lecturers are not even asking that they should be paid like senators but at least FG should be reasonable.

I don't see any gambling here, has it ever being debated to our hearing for so long what our politicians take home as all sort of allowances? Please ASUU follow it to logical conclusion.

Reyginus: Where did you get the idea of a spotless government in my statement?
Dude, has it ever happened that a reasonable mother cools the hot embers placed on her lap by her husband by transfering them on the little laps of her children?

Which children? Do you understand that what is being fought is government's insincerity over the years. And if its not fought now it keeps moving from one generation to the other. And what if you as a student now do the sacrifice today for the good of your children tomorrow, is it bad? If the ASUU of those days that started this fight during the military regime had taken this stand, you would ve been enjoying university education today. If the present day ASUU wins this battle today, then your children lives to enjoy it more. Pls think well before you talk.

Really, you shouldn't be talking about Tuition fee if the ongoing strike affects you, so you expect a lecturer to fuel his car, get new clothes and study materials on his salary without the necessary FG allowance that were made available for him when he got the Job...? Wow...you must really be so educated to be talking about high tuition fee in a Government owened Uni, go to AUN where they pay 1.5M, and tell them they have high tuition fee.

a lot of people said so when they were young, but today they are the ones swearing for ASUU, you better accept fate and join the fight for injustice in this country rather than run away from it today and face it tomorrow in a more furious manner...worst than what you see today
