Hi All,
A friend is offering to sale a Nigerian used 1990 BMW 535i for 450k to me. The car has leather seats, factory A/C alloy wheels, etc and sounds ok. I love these BMW`s but I hear they are not reliable, please I need your advice. He just came into some money and intends to buy a new car.

Very reliable but their parts r so expensive here in the States. By the way, why u wanna buy a car that big and old considering the current skyrocketing prices of gasoline?

If its reliable, then its ok, as I would would actually be using it sparingly, I have a Toyota Camry I use daily. Thanks.

BMWs are really good and reliable cars. They never stop working and their parts are relatively cheap here in Lagos especially the E30 3 series. I know because I own one.

The only sad thing about a BMW is that it is high on fuel compared to other Japanese brands.

If it is for occassional use, especially for travelling then it is the right car. But driving around Lagos traffic, then you must have deep pockets to fuel it but like I said parts are cheap and always available at Ladipo.

But the price is too high for 450k.

NOTE: These large cars are very difficult to resale because they cannot be used for commercial transportation as a last resort due to the engine size and fule consumption. They are always sold and dismantled as scrap.

Also remember they are always built as luxury cars and not compact cars.
