A heavy down pour in different parts of Bauchi state has killed seven people in three LGAs of the state.
The Chairman, Distribution Relief Committee of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Bello confirmed the incident whileanswering question from newsmen yesterday in Bauchi.
He said “heavy down pour was witnessed in the state, most especially the state capital in the past two weeksand initial assessment put the loss recorded at seven persons dead, including a seven- year old girl in Bauchi, three women in Bogoro LGA .Three deaths were also recorded in Shira LGA, 400 farmlands submerged by water, 350 houses affected, many were destroyed”. ,
Bello said there are over 100 people in the camps at Adamami Primary schools, filling stations and properties worth over 100million.
Meanwhile, the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, has advised his subjects residing at Firo village located on the banks of Gubi dam to relocate from the area to a more safer place due to theimminent collapse of the dam as a result of the heavy rain being witnessed in Bauchi State this season.
The state governor, Mallam Isa Yuguda, had during a visit to the dam at Gubi village in Ganjuwa LGA of the state raised the alarm on the possible collapse of the dam due to the weakness of its embankments, calling on the residents of the surrounding villages to leave the area to avoid loss of lives and properties.
Following the governor’s alarm, the royal father, who was represented by the Madakin Bauchi, Alhaji Baba Mohammed, who is the district head of Ganjuwa, in company of the state Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Sani Mohammed Burra, visited Firo village, and called the attention of villager to the danger the imminent collapse of the dam poses to their lives and properties.
