Finally, it has come to bear! first it was the re- denomination of the naira episode that shook the Federal Executive Council which led to the abortion of the proposed policy by the CBN governor, Chukwuma Soludo. Now it is the AFC saga which has further brought Soludo into srutiny. FG is questoning the investment of some billion dollars( can't remember the figure) into the African Finance Corporation. I would think that Soludo is culpable for these allegations, but at the same time , i think the former university lecturer is a victim of this administration's slugery. Soludo is a genius, a rare breed, a reformer and a master strategist at the best. To think that he could take laws into his hands and approve billions without executive recommendation is unthinkable! I think that the Northern card is being played to remove Soludo from an office that has overtime been held by the north. Well, hearings are on and findings will emerge, but if you ask me , i think it's been already determined that the prof will leave his office sooner or later and either of these two men will emerge as the new CBN governor: Sanusi Daggash or Taminu Yakubu.

So Fricking what. If you do the crime you do the time. Soludo should be replaced if found liable. Period.

Soludo is culpable - is the operative phrase in your post.

Once this is the case, he can be let go !

How can Soludo use $480 million dollars of CBN money to invest in AFC, then turn around to be
on the board of this AFC while still serving as CBN governor ?

How can Soludo spend a whopping $17 million dollars as pre-operational expenses for the take off of AFC ?

The $ 15 million dollar fine paid by UBA in New York was as a result of millions of AFC dollars wired by Soludo
to the UBA New York branch.

Soludo might be culpable but who's the alternative to head CBN? Yar'Adua has a good history of appointing wrong people. Take a look at his cabinet. Imagine pencilling Sanusi Daggash, an architect, as CBN governor or Taminu Yakubu who as chief economic adviser has nothing to show yet - the economy is stalling. He was once I believe the MD of Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria which had zero impact on Nigerians. I just hope these are rumors. Obasanjo was bad but it seems Yar'adua is worse
It's unfortunate Soludo provided the ammunition for his own execution but his impact has been felt and we are still feeling it (NSE prices crashing).

Always hear from both sides.

I don't think he's culpable. I read alot about this stuff on BusinessDay and this is just another distraction by this govt

How can I find an act of national assemble establishing CBN. Is CBN an independent entity or subject to FEC? Its time for Charles Soludo to go like Iweala. He will find a better job. Maybe he is hanging in there because of the fame and power. How goes with a lot excorts and govt securities.

By the way, why does Yar'dua have to continously appoint recycled politicians from his northern base to these sensitive positions? CBN should be devoid of politics. Politicians cannot fix our monetary policies. There is a well respected economist/technocrat. Dr. Mansur Mukhtar who can take over from Soludo. I remember someone saying that Yar'dua is coming in with his northern oligarchs to devour everything that was saved and achieved economically in the 9 years. Politicians started this mess and economists and technorats fixed it, now back to square one.

It does not matter what any law says, if the trio of Micheal Aondoakaa, Babagana Kingibe and Shamsudeen Usman want him gone then he will go. The whole talk about rule of law is gibberish with this administration.

I dont take this Govt seriously, Nigeria has no President - a group of mafia has taken over.

My only Annoyance is I dont know what Shamsudden Usman has done so far as Finance Minister neither do I know what Sanusi Daggash has done so far as planning Minister.

Yar'adua keeps talking about interesting times ahead. I am now very afraid of what he will do to Nigeria as president. OBJ may have made a mistake after all in getting him to Aso Rock.

For me we have both interesting and uncertain future to look forward to.

Rule of law? Total nonsense.

what are the qualifications of those to replace him? Seems Yar Adua is sinking us faster than we can go down.
