Where did you learn your own grammar? The only error in that sentence is the hyphen beween "steps" and "down".The correct sentence should be "Lawyers Demand That Governor Suntai Steps Down".
"Steps" in the sentence addresses "Governor Suntai" (which is singular) and not "Lawyers". In the same vein, "demand" adresses "Lawyers" which is plural rather than "demands".

Okija_juju: Why should he step down?!

Does the constitution say that he must step down?!
Just because he has suffered an accident does not make him incapable of being the Governor.
So because his aides had to help him down the steps of an aircraft, he must step down?! What if he is now parmanently crippled from the accident?!

Abeg leave that guy jor!! angry

Words of the gods Let him rule.. If he was performing prior to this accident, then let him continue. All that should be demanded should be a certificate from a doctor saying he hasnt suffered any mental or brain -affecting injuries and that he is capable of making speeches, sound judgement and reasoning.. If anything, he should be made a poster boy for handicapped persons in Nigeria.

Until a medical certificate shows that he is mentally and physically unable to be Governor, i SAY LET HIM BE..

A fool's comment.no offence.
He was involved in an unnecessary accident cos of d nigeria factor......he shud simply resign if he has 'brain'....simple

uchuutien: suntai's case is different from yaradua's, yaradua was at a departure lounge,he was on life support, and justice was neva done untill he eventually passed on.what are we talking about, suntai is fit to rule, those who are comparing this scenario to that of yaradua are being unfair and are only being sentimental about it because a christian is involved, they want a muslim to be unnecessarily confirmed as Gov to make history
Every one is sentimental about and that is y we have the law to take care of sentiments. Sentiments were use in yardua case and sentiments is being used now. The all crux of the matter is a muslim can't rule taraba state and yet u parade your selves as tolerable set of people. The muslims and Christians are selfish, intolerant of one another (sad truth). The ONLY reason given for him to continue is because only jang and Suswam will be christian Governors in the north nothing like development and we all cry of poverty, we never poor reach.

If suntai was a muslim and deputy governor was a christian, u will have reverse opinion and I bet CAN will voice their opinion but now they are quiet.
Anyway suntai should remain for d sake of peace because I know how silly and ignorant people can be. It is not like the deputy governor is better.
So please no body should pretend to be non sentimental on this matter.

You must be a zero behind a decimal point! Do you realize that if it were a Muslim in the condition of Suntai, there would have been crisis in the state if not Nigeria before his return? The CAN President would have organized a rally calling for his removal. It would have been a topic of the day in Churches and National dailies.

you just said my mind, the only reason why I support him is because he is a christain, not that he has done any credible thing for the five yrs he has ruled that state prior to the accident. We just can't exempt ourselves from being sentimental in this country....... Anyway, may God's will be done

His accident was unnecessary how?!

What Nigerian factor?!

Was he not a Licenced Pilot?!

Is anybody above accidents?!

Why should he resign because on an accident?!

Did Rochas resign when his convoy was involved in an accident that he had to be flown abroad?!

Did Sullivan Chime resign when he spent over 5 - 6 months abroad recieving treatment for an illness?!

Where in the constitution, the laws, Acts, Decrees or any other law of the Federal republic does it say 'A governor must step down if he has an accident'?!

On what grounds are you calling for his resignation?!

Please basically confirm to me how 'reasonable' you are as a human being?!

Haba, you must be wicked. What did your bible teach you.? What as religion got to do with public office? That is why the North refuse to develop...you guys have being brainwashed to religious and ethnicity lines..grow up dude,.. Be you a muslim or christian, if you want to develop your state you would for prosterity and not greed.

Since 1999, no christian has governed Lagos yet Fashola is doing well.. Aregebsola is a muslim,he gave the ifa worshippers to operate freely. Its not about religion, its about legacy..

The sentence should read: "The members suggested that Emeka leaves them". In other words, they suggested that he leaves them.
Again, "leaves" adresses "Emeka" which is singular. If you say "The members suggested that Emeka and Uche leave them", then you are right because more than one person is being addressed. You will be right if you also say that "The members suggested that the people leave them" because "people" is a collective singular which can take either a singular or plural verb depending on the context .

People are the real problem of this country, why is the governor yet to address the public since his return to his state? It is obvious that the guy can not perform his duety again and i think he should handover to his deputy if he has the intrest of his state.
. Y are you preempting him, wait untill he fails to address the public before you complain,n by the way did the constitution say he must address the public? Don't listen to what desperate power hungry class of people in the north keep writting about Suntai just to pave way for history to be made by installing a muslim as Gov in a christian state(taraba). Assuming this kind of scenario were to be playing out in a state like Gombe which is ruled by a muslim, even though it's a christian state, will the christian deputy be allowed to act,not to talk of being confirmed as Gov? Will dere be so much call from our hausa/fulani brothers for the Gov(Dankwambo) to be declared unfit just to pave way for a christian to eventually become Gov? Let us think, just within few months that his deputy acted he has fired more than 6 christians appointed by Suntai n replaced them with muslims, how much more if he becomes the Gov,he will be acting on Sultan n other emirs' instructions.Leave Taraba alone, they know what is involved,it's something dat affects dier future, where is patrick Yakowa 2day,where is Kaduna state 2day.
Re: Lawyers Demand That Governor Suntai Steps-down by fxman62: 12:50pm On Aug 27, 2013
The question that needs urgent answers are:
1. Is this man capable or incapable of governing the state? Has the accident so affected his mental faculty to the extent that he can no longer be relied upon to take rational decisions in the governing of the state? That a man is involved in an accident and needed several months to recuperate does not necessarily make him incapable of ruling. In fact he can still rule from a wheel chair. It doesn't matter.

2. Why did the governor upon his arrival in the country after ten months not address the press or state? Is this not a pointer to the fact that his speech is already impaired? If it so, then it may be that his mental capability too is in doubt.

In all these, I'll advise caution on both sides. Let's wait a few more days. If the man had been gone for 10 months and Taraba did not disintegrate, a few more days or weeks wait will definitely Not do more harm.

Hmmm does Suntai even know where he is? His wife is the one pushing him bicos women are selfish politically. It was only the wife waving to people along the road in Jalingo while the man just rest his head on his wife body. So the man should leave power and go and take care of himself, pls no sentiment

Governor Suntai was first a Christian , then he became a Muslim to fulfill the condition to marry his wife Hauwa. When politics came calling he reverted to Christianity as a condition for him winning the election. Finally now he is a vegetable and vegetarians like you and Jerry Gana are gloating over him. He should finish his term even though he is brain dead , after all he is a Christian - sorry , a vegetable.
