Visiting the correctional facilities and knowing a couple of correctional officers can never give you a full insight of the prison world like an ex-inmate can give you.
Do find time to scout for an ex-inmate so you don't get misinformed.

Yes, there's a sex trade going on in prisons (huge one at that) but most are not forced or coerced as you have stated.

Female inmates just like other free females in our society can be horrnny and thereby are usually in need of sexual gratification at some point in time. And knowing that they are naturally in demand...they use that opportunity to make some bargains (money, food, soap) while they as well satisfy themselves sexually.

I'm not ruling out the fact that they are continues cases of rape and coercion in prisons....but its not as rampant as you are painting it.

Female inmates also have needs.

BTW, our prisons urgently needs restructuring, reconstructing and rehabilitation.

This is why some countries now allow some inmates to have sex with their partners but I doubt if with co-inmates but definitely not with prison officials as that is going to be very unprofessional.
