Just Thinking................. by enny5: 4:53pm On Sep 03, 2013 |
It is the 21st century, the age industry, education and technology. Nigeria, is an African country, who was set free in 1960. Allegedly to be 53 years old in October. For 53 years we have been at war. With ourselves, our leaders and even the average Nigerian fights a war everyday to meet the basic necessities of life. We have failed in all aspects to meet with the current modern standard of a developed nation that is industrially, intellectually and technologically stable. Why? Firstly, We lack an enlightened population. True poverty is of the mind. Most Nigerians cannot define their goals besides making profit and getting money. This is why we do not get rich. Because we find ourselves in the continuos loop of doing something, getting money, using the money and looking for the next thing to do. People hardly think of moving the society forward. Seeing a bigger picture for the country. Instead of moving the nation forward we are concerned wit personal profits and gains. We no longer know the right questions to ask the men who lead the nation. We now see proper allocation of resources and wealth as a basis for gaining election votes. We think that zoning our electoral positions and government offices is the best way to rule, as opposed to who can actually do what is required of that position. We see presidential elections as a religious campaign rather than a campaign for forward moving society. Nnamdi Azikiwe and all those who actually fought and bleed for our independence would turn and still bleed in their graves till this day. The Nigerian youth does not have the facilities for a modern education, and therefore is unable to identify what is really important. We do not even know what it is for a president to have fulfilled the set out political agenda before being re-elected. Our futures is being destroyed right in front of our eyes and we sit by and watch. The green passport is therefore not only a source of embarrassment to individuals but a signal for caution internationally. Going to Ghana, Malaysia or even kenya is now considered a privilege. These men have destroyed and sank the nation and I do not know if we can get any lower than this. They have only one agenda and one only. TO MILK THIS COUNTRY FOR ALL ITS GOT!!! A senator for 16 years(which is illogical in the first place), builds a golf course in Europe, a shopping mall worth over billions of Naira and flies a private jet that does not belong to his appointed office but to him. One man has net worth of 5.5 trillion naira (competing with the federal budget). Another with a world class hospital in London, just to name a few. The children of these men no longer hold a nigerian passport. They are citizens of other countries where people bleed, died and sacrificed to developed. Would it have been so painful to them to have just constructed a working educational, health, power, transportation, housing sector for the nigerian people before setting out on the quest for money? If this one man used a minor sum to create something tangible every year he was he office, we would have had 16 tangible things of note in Nigeria right now. We keep fighting and challenging ourselves, Jonathan VS Buhari, or North VS South etc. This is not our problem. The bitter truth is whoever wins the 2015 election is just a figure. What happens or what comes out of the person at the end his tenure would be exactly the same thing that we have had over the years. A USELESS AND DISAPPOINTING LEADER. It is a question of what human being decides to carry out the uselessness. So what we are actually voting for, is who destroys the country next? We need to start thinking big!!! If we want something done we need to seek and find out who can do this. Be it a muslim/Christian/Buddhist/pagan/westerner/southerner/Easterner/northerner. We need to start educating ourselves in whatever way we can to ask the big questions. Jonathan constructing roads for example is a good thing and a contribution to the economy. But, it doesn't change the fact that he has been at that position for more than 8 years and has nothing tangible to offer us at the end of his tenure. Personally, I dont want anyone to be on that sit in 2015. We need to put a stop to these vultures that just rotate the nigerian presidency for their personal means. None of them should sit there. They can retire. Am am really sure they are all passed retirement age to begin with. Nigerians need time to reminisce and think of the next step at this point. We need a new generation of leaders that meet the standards of the modern world today. They had their time, they had their opportunity and it was a completely useless and wasteful period in the history the nation. We need to start writing our own history. The history of this generation. This time. NOW. We need to start taking action. It might not be an immediate action. It might take years to actualise but as long we get there one day. We are building a home for our future generations to come, so they dont have to seek refuge in other countries. Its just really sad. But like i said, Just thinking aloud. |

Thinking, asking and saying solutions are useless without collective action from the masses. That we lack though the potential was shown during GEJ's unpopular fuel price hike. |
