Foucus College used to be a very popular school in Lagos in the late 1980s and 1990s. I guess the 3 ladies who own the place are now aged and have lost steam. The ladies should be in their late 70s or early 80s now. |

You remind me of those days..... I will print copies of my resume and pick a particular location and submit my cv to almost all schools in that axis and when they call for interview. I will go, but the pay was another thing that would chase me. Keep it up. masties2: So I went CV spamming today. By foot (lol) I was able to see a school that is holding interview tomorrow. Lucky me, I guess. Some of the impressive looking schools I saw were primary schools, although I didn't bother to drop my CV there cos I am interested secondary schools.
For the IGCSE a friend said that one is given a study pack and then does exam and submit. CIE has a webinar planned for August 13th sounds good an the fee is £49. I saw the info online. |

Re: Strictly For Those Interested In Teaching Jobs by Nobody: 4:28pm On Jul 30, 2015 |
ravensckar: Fellow educationists, it's with great excitement I wish to narrate to you my unforgettable experience @ Carlton gate estate, chevron drive lekki.
Although, this isn't the first time I'll be going to those 'big men area' on a teaching assignment. But this one is just different. Now, let me summarise my experience thus;
Firstly, when dealing with those 'rich' parents, one should be extra-ordinarily confident. Because, if there's anything a rich client wouldn't tolerate, it's fidgeting at work. It simply shows that one is either not qualified to do the job, or one doesn't know what to do.
Secondly, our dressing and grammatical usage of words should be properly selected. Else, no matter one's so-called qualification, one wouldn't be considered good enough.
Thirdly, most of the things they teach in all those 'so-called' big schools are similar to what they teach in mushroom schools. Care to guess what the difference is? Packaging! I'm 100% sure of what I'm saying here cos I've taught virtually all categories of students. The Corona kids, The Day waterman minors, The Greenspring richie rich, amongst others.
Going by the assertions above, it wasn't difficult for me to work my way to the clients heart within the shortest time frame possible. She kept repeating the same thing all through the 20 minutes she watched me teach her kids; 'You're good! Keep it up!' 'Common! You're good!' She even told me in a rare moment of candour that I would go places. When I now told her of my desire to be a Univ don, she couldn't hide her amusement. Here's a woman with a track record for rejecting home tutors.
It was a wonderful experience going to all those 'big men area' in the name of teaching. Osbourne Foreshore Estate, Banana Island Estate, Chevy view estate Lekki, and now, Carlton gate estate. It's not as if I've made a fortune yet, but the experiences and confidence I've gathered from these adventures of mine is priceless.
In conclusion, we should search our conscience for answers to the following questions; 1- Do I really want to make teaching proffesion my means of livelihood? 2- Do I have the requisite qualifications to get to the top? 3- Will I ever be ready to pay the price for such decision I've made?
As for me, I've decided! God bless you hustle. Amen. |

But I want to raise the issue that not all A grade schools will recruit teachers without that qualification so please is there anyone on the thread that can help us so we register through his / her school please be your brothers keeper so we can progress together |
