Its Syria. Last week it seemed inevitable that the US would strike Syria. The Pope continued to appeal for peace but it seemed like all appeals were falling on deaf ears. The Pope called for a prayer vigil on Saturday for peace in Syria, asking the intercession of our blessed mother. Alas! They have come up with a solution that seems ddestined to avert a US war on Syria. Something that seemed to be shaping up into world war 3. The Russians have proposed that Syria hands over its chemical weapons to the international community...which the Syrians have agreed to.

In fact, what you pray for happened to be the main point of yesterday's homily.

The priest preached on the upper room experience. How we had to dedicate ourselves to prayer in total trust and humility for something great like the descent of the Holy Spirit to happen. He also prayed that the Holy Spirit should empower us and fill us with his light. At a point, he did pray that the Holy Spirit should empower our friends and family through our prayer there. At that point I remembered and prayed for my friends and family including nairaland friends. I believe that God was speaking to you.

I just wish someone on nairaland was attending so they can bear witness to these prayer points.

She is just a woman who found grace in the sight of God. God blessed her indeed more than all the women in the world. She was loved so much by Jesus Christ. She was baptised by Holy Ghost. God is a God of the living. Mary is dead. It is like praying that john(the beloved) to intercede for our sins. Matthew 7 vs 7 says "ask, and you shall receive...." Also, the prayer of the righteous avails much. The dead are dead forever, they can't intercede for us again except the living ones. Had been jesus didn't resurrect, then salvation would have been nothing in Him. We only pray through JESUS because HE is a LIVING SAVIOUR!!!!!

First, 'only the living can intercede,' then they showed you that Mary is living and suddenly, 'only Jesus can intercede. ' It seems like you are confused.

ofcourse john4:6 is great scripture but it isn't against intercession. all who are born again and living righteously are IN CHRIST jn14;20 that is why when you ask you fellow christian to pray for you, it does not contradict jn14:6 because the christain is in christ. even those who are dead as christian are in christ and with christ. just as asking ur fellow christain to pray 4 u doesn't contradict jn14 so also asking those who with christ 4 prayer doesn't contradict jn14
