INCONVENIENT TRUTHS by Biodun Isola Ladipo-

Brigadier-General Alabi-Isama (rtd), who fought side-by-side with Benjamin Adekunle in the 3rd Marine Commando that broke the back of Biafra, recently wrote a book: “The Tragedy of Victory, On-The-Spot Account of the Nigeria-Biafra War in the Atlantic Theater”. In an interview with the Vanguard, Isama reiterated some of the points he raised in his book, amongst which was the fact that the Biafran rationale (of starting the war to stem corruption) was really a ruse to mask their insatiable quest for political control of all of Nigeria. For me, one of the most poignant reminders that Isama gave us is that the Igbos had such a firm control of Nigeria (except the Premiership) and yet carried out the brutal killing of so many. Here is what Isama said:

“At that time, the Igbo had more than 75 per cent of the country in their hands and under their grip. University of Lagos had Eni Njoku as Vice Chancellor; University of Ibadan had Kenneth Dike; the Army was commanded by Aguiyi-Ironsi; the Air Force, Kurubo from the East; the Navy had Wey from the East; the Customs, Police, Immigration they were all from the East. Jaja Wachukwu, Foreign Affairs Minister; Okoi Arikpo was Internal Affairs Minister. Matthew Mbu was Transport Minister. In Balewa’s government, the Hausa had three ministers; the NCNC, which was the party of the East at that time, had 11 ministers. In fact, the Finance Minister was Okotie-Eboh. The Hausa only had the Ministry of Defense. So the Ibos killed the Hausa to do what?”

Isama also reminded us that the Igbo coup plotters killed both General Ademulegun and his PREGNANT (!) wife (who was NOT a Soldier) in their bed, and their kinsmen and women jubilated all around the country, particularly in the north, after such an ignominious act as the killing of Tafawa Balewa.

These are some of the inconvenient truths that our Igbo brethrens would rather not discuss. All they have done is attack Isama’s person, calling him a paedophile who raped Biafran children, among such other nonsensical appellations.

Eyes opener indeed! What was the reason for killing the only Hausa Minister at the time? Greediness if you ask me.

Everybody who was not ibo knew that this was their game plan all along.
Awolowo saw through the ruse and wrested the western region beyond their grasp ( thank God).

The colonials handed political power to the north because they can be controlled and gave the ibos aministrative advantage.
They intentionally kneecapped the SW because of the level on enlightenment and growing base of socialist leaning and educated activist.
In other words ,there were it at all for the average yoruba.
That is why they were called the dirisible name Oyinbo (someone whose skin was peeled by a bee)
They had a vice like grip on the north .when Ahmadu bello decided to rectify this anomalie, these guys kicked their pre independence plan in motion.
They did the first coup - Nzeogwu
Second coup - ironsi
And expected a bouquet of flowers from the northerners in return for killing their leaders and dancing on their grave.
