I think u need a finger print reader that will be interfaced to a microcontroller.

The microcontroller has to be so programmed so as to be able to allow one enrol (store) his/her finger print which will be stored in a memory.

So when someone want to access d device, the person swipes his / her fingers on the finger print reader, if the micro detects a match, it will either operate a motor to open a door or trigger sth depending on what it was programmed to do.

If u want a pure software based stuff, I think the finger print will be stored on a database, and when there is a match, the users data can be displayed. It all depends on what the software was programmed to do.
