Since the August 31st Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, President Goodluck Jonathan has been in a series of meetings with elders and other stakeholders of the party to find a lasting solution to the fractionalization of the party which began with the walk out staged by the G7 governors and other stakeholders over what they termed undemocratic practices.
The meetings however appear to have made little or no headway in resolving the issues raised and Alhaji Bamanga Tukur who leads the old PDP has been making all kinds of threats and generally talking tough. His actions rather than douse the situation has aggravated the matter further. Needless to say he Bamanga ‘s membership of the party according to party constitution is in doubt. In fact after his expulsion from the party, he was not properly re-admitted before coming on board as the chairman of the party. His continued stay as the chairman and his abrasive leadership style is one of the major causes of the crisis in the party.
