Have you considered why or you just keep wondering why big investors and even government in Nigeria leave out some investments that could be considered economical locally and even internationally. Well, maybe they are not ready to take huge risk in businesses that are not established. It is natural for one to consider that risk in major technological business start-ups like some innovations to be presented later, is a main reason why people shun these new ventures. On the part of Government however, it is priority that has to be questioned. For example, the Federal Government of Nigeria, recently claims it was going to start building it’s own aircraft, this is a huge business for the government, yet the impression of an average Nigerian is that it will be a white elephant project. There are several technological innovations that has been born right from Nigeria, Kenya and other African nations many probably going unnoticed and most of which are killed by lack of capital. Recently, TED talks has featured a number of young men designing and showing amazing abilities, a few making products that are now selling well in the market. Unfortunately, people like Kehinde Durojaiye Obasanjo, designer of a Jet car that has original design to fly, drive and drive on sea, as of now has not yet enjoyed promotion like the young Richard Turere who made flashlight at age 13 and had a scholarship for his ingenious mind. For now Obasanjo says he is expecting the government to promote him. You may watch a video of Obasanjo talking about his design, published on Sahara Reporters. link - http://www.abcnaira.com/ |
