he declared "war" on NEPA . . . any change?

This is not about securing the NigerDelta but about securing oil resources for the cronies in power. Yar Adua should start by declaring war on corruption, inefficiency, cronyism, government abdication of responsibility and a monoeconomy solely dependent on oil. Only then can we take him seriously.

wHY ARE YOU PEOPLE SO SCARED OF HIM DECLARING WAR.

MR. PRESIDENT, THE GOVERNORS AND THE SENATES ARE PREPARING TO FIGHT THE MILITANTS.
I HEARD THAT OBASANJO WILL LEAD THE RACE FOLLOWED BY MR. PRESIDENT. BABANGIDA AND OTHERS, SO WHY WORRY, PRAY THAT THE MILITANT INVADE THEIR CAMP AND DESTROY ALL THEIR EVIL POWERS. THEN WE WILL CELEBRATE INDEPENDENT DAY FOR THE FIRST TIME.

CONFUSION EVERYWHERE cry
Re: Yar’adua Declares War On Militants by naijaway(m): 11:51pm On Jun 24, 2008
good development, he should have done/been doing this for a while now. Since a certain people are trying to create a state within a state because of oil then you get the consequences. And yes, it wouldn't be until the oil finishes. Instead of having several protest and accountability they are deciding to distabilize the whole region and the whole country by their actions. Making old and young live in fear. The military should create checkpoints state wide but should also try to minimize innocent lives and should also allow the press and any observer to monitor the situation only after clearance.

Re: Yar’adua Declares War On Militants by Nigeria14: 4:03am On Jun 25, 2008
My first question is why are the militia blowing up the pipeline. My answer is because they feel cheated. What if we correct thier mind. I believe violent against violent would end up with problem. We have an option to send elder statemen to the militia, I do suggest Antony Enahoro , wole soyinka, Gani fawehinmi, Gowon and alhaji Shehu shagari. They would be able to stop the militia more than Nigeria army.
Re: Yar’adua Declares War On Militants by Nobody: 6:02am On Jun 25, 2008
I was among those that celebrated Obasanjo's hand over to Yaradua but looking at the mess Nigeria is degenerating into, I knew that another Shagari has come to power. Declaring war on his own people is the only thing our weakling of a president could thought up whereas if he had acted in effective dialogue and changes since he came in to power, it wouldn't have degenerated to this. He is hiding under due process while the country goes down daily. Look at our National assembly that have become a mockery of modern politics, playing police to the whole country but failed to pass a bill that will give citizens access to information and how our money is spent in law making. Look at Yaradua's appointments, to satisfy his racial and discriminatory inclination, he is discriminatory filling up government appointments without giving a thought to effectiveness. Just like what happened in Shagari's government where race became criteria for government posts in full opposition to competency.
After he is done declaring war in Niger Delta, he should also get ready to declare war on the humanitarian crisis his action will create.
Re: Yar’adua Declares War On Militants by ehie007(m): 6:28am On Jun 25, 2008
@iseobio , how can u call yaradua stupid, its the militant u should call stupid, they have gone too far by blowing up the bonga oil field, it doesnt make sense again, it has turn from freedom fighthing to selfish interest, am a niger deltan but i wont suport what does so call miscreants are doing, now they will affect the economic growth of the country, put a lot of people out of job, make a lot of people suffer including theri own people, if they were not selfish mindedm they wouldnt have gone that far.

I support yaradua, find them and destroy them. cool cool
Re: Yar’adua Declares War On Militants by dblock(m): 7:11am On Jun 25, 2008
What you have is one huge mess.

That cannot be solved by any amount of negotiations

Even if Yar'Adua was a saint, do you think that a bunch of militants that have been showered with so much money, and have become the true epitome of lawlessness, will be willing to agree to any amnesty or lay down arms.

One thing that is common in Nigeria, is the emergence of criminals as a result of society. No doubt there was/is neglect in the Niger Delta, but no doubt these "freedom fighters" are criminals

They speak about having more control of the Niger delta, heck I would rather have Abacha come back to life and take control of the Niger Delta than have a bunch of clueless criminals around, At least Abacha had some ideals. they are opportunists. I do not support the Government, but these people are no better than the Government.

The entire State Government are corrupt. Yes empower the people of the Niger Delta, but these people are not the people of the Niger Delta

It's like Yahoo yahoo Boys telling the Government that they have been neglected and they want more control.

Yes they have been neglected, but before they can be involved in any way they must be rehabilitated.

Fa fa fa - foul. Brother jie brake there as you are getting this whole thing mixed up. Check your history and contemporary books and you'll know that yes, it was the oil but have u 4gotten that several peaceful protests have been staged on this and in fact Saro Wiwa and the other Ogoni 7 lost their lives for this and you come here and say this? Upon that your president wants to impose Gambari on the proposed Niger Delta Summit. Cast your mind back during the Abacha days just after the murder of Saro Wiwa and the other. Can you still remember the utterances of Gambari while he was still Nigeria permanent rep to UN justifying why those men had to die. In fact that summit will not hold. Take it from me.

The truth is that the guys should have done more that scratch the Bonga Field and may be, Yara goslow Dua will wake up. I read on Thisday this morning that your Bonga has not Radar but just CCTV and your good old Navy had withrawn the miserly two patrol boats guarding the place for one fake exercise a day before the attack.

Many more will come if we continue not to listen to these guys.

OGA UMARU OR WHATEVER, HAS TO BE CAREFUL WITH THOSE BOYS! YES THE MILITARY MIGHT IS SUPPOSED TO OVER POWER THESE BOYS, BUT THEN THEIR TACTICS IS THAT OF GURELLA !! SO THAT ALONE MAKES THINGS DIFFICULT FOR THE MILITARY FORCES. MEANWHILE, HE BETTER THINK OF HOW TO DIALOGUE WITH THOSE BOYS AND FIND OUT THEIR PROBLEM RATHER THAN OUTRIGHT CONFRONTATION, COS IT'LL EXACERBATE THE WHOLE ISSUE.

It's very wrong of you to describe our President as the most stupid idiot. That's callous of you. It's an insult not only on the president but the entire Nigerians for casting aspersions on our President.
Come to think of it, are you a militant or one of their sponsors?Because i don't understand your point. You want the president fold his arms and watch those criminals in the Niger Delta blow up the country; all in the name of agitation? No, it can't be. For me, i support the President. Infact a full Military option is what those criminals need

This is a case of hooliganism from this said government. How on earth does Yar'dua think he will succeed with this brutal act? Afterall his immediate predecessor(Big Head) tried the same thing and nothing good came out of it.This is the right time to compensate this Niger/Delta people as the are really suffering with their heads down and their legs up.These said areas dont have the opportunity to plant due to oil and gas sprinkling all over the area restricting them to have plantation yet they are the states feeding the whole nation at large. You can imagine a soil spilled with oil,how do you plant on such soil, its never possible for any plantation to spring up.It is better this man gets a better adviser to really talk to him cos he is not doing the best this time around.Lets think of justice in everything we do so that we dont terminate the future of this country. For you guys thinking he is doing the right thing, its better you put yourselves in those people shoe.I rest my case.
Re: Yar’adua Declares War On Militants by Bolarge(m): 9:46am On Jun 25, 2008
Personally I think it's long overdue.
We're deceiving ourselves if we think dialogue will go anywhere with these militants. These guys should be treated as exactly what they are: criminals, and presently a threat to the overall well-being of the nation's sovereignty. Their atrocities are right now even generating shockwaves, the ripple effect of which is being felt on an international scale.
Seek and destroy.
Period. angry

How about govt building a military barracks in Nembe of one of those creek communities. Military presence not far away from them.

If you feel the govt has wronged and neglected you and you take the laws into your hands, What sincerely do you expect to be the repercussion? A pat on the back?

Check the allocation given to these Niger-Delta States and they are still complaining of under development and neglect. Is it Yar' Adua's problem if Ibori,

Odili and Alams decide to chop the money? All the militants are just looking for a means to enrich themselves. No genuine freedom fighter.
