Nigerian photographer and filmmaker Andrew Dosunmu, whose latest work – Mother Of George is still being reviewed and talked of in different circles, will direct the upcoming Fela Kuti biopic.

According to Variety, Dosunmu has been chosen by Focus Features to direct the musical drama based on the life and activities of the afrobeat legend.

At this point, there is no inkling as to who will play Fela Kuti, however it’s certain when an actor finally gets pick for the role everyone following this project will get to hear about it as people will be eager to share their views on the casting.

The biopic is adapted from the book “Fela: The Life and Times of An African Musical Icon” written by Michael Veal with Nigerian poet Chris Abani and James Schamus developing the screenplay.
