Always makes me laugh when people keep spewing drivel about Messi only doing it at Barcelona. Imagine Juventus buys Messi and tell me whether Messi won't be by far the best player in Italy and whether Juventus won't continue winning the league. Imagine if Chelsea or Man City bought Messi and tell me which player in the Premiership would even come close to his level. See the impact ordinary RVP made for Man U last season, talkless of Messi. They make it out like he'll struggle in the EPL because of his small stature: yet a lot of small, technically gifted players have come from La Liga and other leagues to dominate the Premier League. Small players like Aguero, Silva, Navas, Cazorla, Mata, Modric, Van der Vaart, Oscar, Hazard, Suarez, Coutinho etc. Ordinary Eriksen came from Ajax the other day and is already running things for Tottenham. Yet, these clowns think Messi would flop when far inferior players are making it in the Premier League.

When people say Ronaldo is more complete than Messi, what they usually mean is that he heads the ball better and he's stronger. Messi scores more than Ronaldo and he scores more fantastic individualistic goals than Ronaldo. Yet, he also creates far more chances and assists a lot more goals than Ronaldo does. Messi is also a key component of his team's possession play, completing a much greater quantity and percentage of passes than Ronaldo. Messi dribbles better than Ronaldo and his link-up with team mates is superior. Messi even scores more free kicks than Ronaldo over the past 2 seasons despite Ronaldo being erroneously seen as the better free kick taker. I don't see how Ronaldo is more complete.

But even if Ronaldo is more complete (he isn't, but we're assuming) it doesn't make him a better player. You could argue Mikel Essien is more complete than Iniesta - it doesn't make him better than Iniesta.

I also don't know why some people like bringing up their international records, as if Ronaldo's record is better han Messi's. Messi has 37 goals in 83 matches. Ronaldo has 43 in 106. And Messi plays differently for Argentina than he does for Barca. Argentina have an abundance of strikers and a shortage of playmakers so Messi often operates as a playmaker in midfield and doesn't get into the box as often as for Barca. Portugal lack strikers but in Moutinho, they have a fantastic playmaker, so Ronaldo plays as a wide forward for them. The big shame for Argentina is their lack of balance and painful mediocrity in defence won't allow them build a proper team that can challenge for the World Cup.

mediocre players go to epl and make it but Lione Messi can't..how possible is this? Am not a Barca fan and everything is possible but we will always have to access and check the possibility of everything possible happening. The player calibre of xavi Hernandez and Iniesta are almost everywhere. Remember Ronaldao had Darren Fletcher, Ryan Giggs,Paul Scholes, and Wayne Rooney all at their peak back in United. Wayne Rooney is capable of making a player even better than he is. He have xabi alanso, mesut ozil, luka modrich and di maria at mardrid. So, I think combination of all the players Ronaldo has are powerful to xavi-iniesta. Talking about Lisbon, his boyhood club...do u knw how Lionel Messi survived at Barca? even at a tender age he's been dangerous. At a very tender age he participated in 2006 UCL final with Arsenal.
I think Messi is better than Ronaldo. He's someone who dosen't even need a final pass from mesut ozil or a long one on one pass from xabi Alanso to make a difference. He dosen't need to be on the run always but on the highest pace, he dosen't need to carry 20kg iron to build up his stamina or train endlessly for free kicks and long shots and he dosen't need an endless legover to beat an opponent. I think that man is the best. Ronaldo is a product of hardwork, sturbornness to survive, hard decisions but Messi is a product of talent.

barcanista: Guy yOu are sick. Madrid is most succesful in terms of UCL, but Barca is most successful in terms of overall trophies won. Mumu when last you win european trophy? Since winning it 2002, Barca has won uncountable number of european trophies.

I repeat barca is the best ever.
All others come distance second
Visca el barca

Pls madrid titles are far greater than barca titles overall. Not even pep barca could eclipse the overall titles won by Madrid and dats why Madrid brag about its rich history. People forget that madrid won 3 UCL btw a space of 5yrs. Btw '98 to 2002. Barca did so too 06,09,11. So we saw a repeat of the feat achieved by Madrid by barca. Only Ac Milan can rival madrid on overall titles won

What you stated here is right and I still believe that Ronaldo is a complete and better player to Messi. He plays both legs and has power backing his action on every ball he kicks. He has speed and deadly on balls when placed on spot kick.

@o.p from ur post, it is clear dat u're a ronaldo fan. 1st u guys said ronaldo was better dan messi bt u realized u had no point nd decided to stylishly say ronaldo is the most complete player. The most complete player is someone who is good at everything i.e goals, dribbles, passes, assists, consistency, field coverage, can play different positions, teamwork e.t.c ronaldo is gud at the 1st two nd maybe consistency nd can play at different wings bt nt different positions but he is average at the other points. Bt u would agree messi is gud at all the points so i'd say messi is more complete than ronaldo (messi might nt be d best tho, bt he's the best i can tink of and i know he's beta dan ronaldo). But u know, i might be wrong bout my explanation of a complete player's attributes, so kindly explain the meaning of the most complete player. I'll be waiting 4 ur explanation, tank u

Kx: This argument and similar ones need not arise in the first place.

Let Messi leave the comfort of Barca as CR7 had done for the argument to arise ab initio.

If Messi cant test other waters, there is absolutely no need to bring up this comparism with CR7.

Messi is the best but until he leaves Barca,he is a one club-world -legend. Cant you get it?

Same goes for Pep. Now I cut him some slack because the figures are looking good with his Bayern performance.

Messi should lauch into the unknown deep and prove his skills in other league and at the world cup for this comparism to arise for crying out loud.Otherwise I c a super Javier Zanetti or Ryan Giggs, das all.
No other statement will be better than this bro. You cant claim to the best when you are only in one league surrounded by brilliant talents. Let Mercy even change to anither club in the same and see if he will still answer mercy again. Cr7 is only player that has tasted and proved in different leagues nd by different managers.

C. Ronaldo? Most complete? You guy are hilarious. How many defence splitting passes does he make in a season? How many shots does he need to get a goal? In how many roles on the field can he play? What's his defensive contribution to Madrid and Portugal?

I hope the dudes arguing know what complete means sha.

Nonso23: The Gap in between messi and ronaldo is wide enough for better players like delima ronaldo, ronaldinho, zidane maradona, pele, etc to fit in.
Who needs thunderbolt shots when you can easily sneak in the ball with finesse?
Who needs machine speed when you can easily dribble all 11 players in a row confidently?
Who needs ronaldo when you Can Have MESSI ?
Messi has scored more goals with his left foot than ronaldo has done with his whole body (head, stomach, knees, intestines, kidneys, liver, feet, eyes, etc
so why argue that ronaldo is better?
MESSI- KING OF THE ROUND LEATHER; ANYDAY, ANYTIME!!

Slyr0x: When football agent Jorge Mendes earlier this week, insisted that his client Cristiano Ronaldo is better than Brazilian winger Neymar Jnr and more Complete than Argentine maestro Lionel Messi, both of Barcelona, many people raised their eyebrows; maintaining that his stance is biased.

However, before we make our conclusions, I want us to take an in depth look at the 28-year-old Portuguese. After this, you can draw whatever comparison u like, but I believe one thing cannot be argued; and that is FACT!!!

In 2003, Cristiano dos Santos Aviero Ronaldo arrived Old Trafford as a teenager, but at that young age, the winger had already racked up 31 appearances and five goals for his boyhood club; Sporting Lisbon. The boy actually became a man at Manchester United.

After six seasons at the theatre of dreams, Ronaldo endeared himself into the hearts of fans with his direct play, dribbles and goals making him a cult hero at the club. Ronaldo won 11 major honours with the Red Devils and scored a total of 118 goals in 292 games for the Premier League champions.

In 2008, he became the first player (and only, so far) from the EPL to be crowned the best player in the world by FIFA, after guiding the then Ferguson-led United to the Premier League and Champions League double.
On June 26 2009, CR7 swapped Old Trafford for Bernabeu; joining Spanish giants Real Madrid for a then world record fee of £80m.

In just his fifth season with the los blancos, Ronaldo has already gone on to break numerous records at the club. With the hat-trick he scored on Tuesday against Galatasaray in the Champions League, Ronaldo became Real Madrid's third all-time highest goalscorer (38 goals) in the competition, behind only Raul Gonzalez and Frenc Puskas and fifth in the overall list on 54 goals.

Ronaldo has also won one Spanish La-Liga, one Copa del Rey, and two Super Cup titles with the capital club.
The most outstanding stat of Ronaldo's time in Spain so far, is that the Madeira-born forward has scored more goals than games played for Real Madrid; 206 goals in 204 games played so far. In total, the former Sporting Lisbon forward has scored 329 goals in 527 club games so far, and all across three clubs in three different leagues; Portugal, England, and now Spain.

He has also managed to win 15 major club honours, to go with his 68 individual titles. It will be a debate that will drag on for decades; who is better between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, with four straight FIFA world best awards, since Ronaldo won it in 2008, the Argentine looks the clear favourite.

However, I want to state that being the best and being complete are two different things, take Ronaldo Da Lima for example, while he wowed all in the colors of Brazil, winning 3 world cups with his national side, he found it hard performing consistently in Europe, hence his club football was not as successful.

So if you consider what Cristiano Ronaldo has managed to achieve in all the leagues he has played in, and the fact that, he has managed to stand out in two major leagues, you look at things a little bit differently. It is not surprising that he is the only player to have won the European Golden Boot from two different Leagues.

It is hard to see Messi thriving in a team aside Barcelona. With 328 goals from 410 games for Barcelona so far, one cannot play down the greatness of the little magician.

While Messi fits in perfectly into Barcelona's set up and will continue to rule the round leather game for many more years with the Nou Camp outfit, Ronaldo looks like a player that can succeed in any team in Europe due to his style of play.
Like Sir Alex said last year; "Maturity brings many things. When I went to see them play against City, some of his decision-making in terms of passing was brilliant.

" Now you see the complete player. His decision-making, his maturity, his experience, plus all the great skills he has got, they make him the complete player."

So if I was to compare these two wonderful artists (because football is an art), I will say while Messi is the best player the world has ever seen; due to his skills and abundant wisdom and great understanding of the game, not to forget his personal and team success, CR7 is the most complete player on God's green earth.
