4. From your letter, it is clear that you concede that some "Nigerians" may have traveled with the delegation "unofficially." Does this technical admission not defeat your initial insistence that there was only "one delegation"? Ogbeni Abati the liar just borrowed the same lie he used during the AU summit last year, he basically repackaged the same lie, but in effect, admitting that his oponushuku master took many other waste and worthless baggage with him to the AU summit and now to NY. The man just turn to dullard after Jonathan hire him sha.. 3 Likes |

all4naija: That $10,000 a night hotel-room is not to expensive for a seating president. A poor bottom like me has paid $2,000 per night for two days before not to make mention of Nigerian president. The delegation is too large though. How come is it that nations with decrepit infrastructure like Nigeria and many an African country seek out the poshest hotels whilst abroad? Can we not have an official residence for our top brass like states have liason offices in Lagos Many 'oyinbos' laugh at our silly attempts to impress them by our spending lavishly when those funds should have been building a road or providing healthcare I saw a report once that queen of England owns about 20% of British land Yet this monarch does not OWN a private jet like many Nigerian elite do but uses BA's planes to get about just like the British prime minister too (who even takes public transport to work at times) Leaders in other nations e.g Sweden are seen patronizing shopping malls used by the common man How come Ebele's delegations to gatherings of nations always makes headlines Recall Rio, Addis Ababa and the commonwealth meeting in Australia Afterwards we'll take our begging bowls to London, Washington, Paris, Beijing, Moscow,World Bank etc but never get that the joke is always on us Shame 4 Likes |

State House Denies Knowledge Of Hundreds Of Nigerians In New York On Jonathan Delegation To UN general Assembly The presidency has denied as “a false claim” a report by SaharaReporters on Sunday that President Goodluck Jonathan has led a 600-man delegation to the 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. SaharaReporters, however, stands by its story, which was borne out of through investigation, and we challenge the presidency to publish the official delegation to prove the contrary to the public. In particular, Saharareporters challenges President Jonathan to make public the list of Nigeria officials sent to the Nigerian Mission and Consulate in New York from the ministry of foreign affairs, which comprised of the Nigerian delegates to the 68th General Assembly of the United Nations. “While we trust that discerning members of the public who are already very familiar with SaharaReporters’ usual fare of mischief, outright falsehood and erroneous speculation will rightly dismiss this latest claim as a fresh manifestation of the online medium’s ill-will towards President Jonathan and his administration, we wish to affirm for the benefit of the unwary that there is absolutely no truth in the allegation that the President took a 600-man delegation to New York,” the presidency said in a statement signed by spokesman Reuben Abati. In our earlier, we reported that most members of the delegation are 547 civil servants drawn from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), as well as advance team members who arrived in New York earlier to make preparations for the trip of the President. We also reported that Mr. Jonathan’s inner entourage comprised 26 people, including security aides, his wife, doctor and political associates, a fact confirmed by Mr. Abati, who then said that there were Ministers and essential aides before denying knowledge of anyone else. “Other than them, the only other persons who are in New York for the UN General Assembly with the President’s knowledge and approval are relevant ministers and few essential aides,” the spokesman said, without exactly denying the presence of an army of civil servants from Ministries, Departments and Agencies. “We are certainly aware that many Nigerian citizens are currently on visits to New York. These persons are here for their own purposes and neither President Jonathan nor his administration has any responsibility for the presence of these persons in New York. We will not be surprised if it is such persons who include Nigerian businessmen who are here for an African Business Roundtable event, members of non-governmental organizations and tourists that Sahara Reporters has been counting, for the sole purpose of mischief-making, as “members of the Nigerian delegation”. Mr. Abati did not make any reference to other critical elements in our story, including the fact that President Jonathan is spending his time in New York in a hotel where he pays $10,000 per night. http://saharareporters.com/news-page/state-house-denies-knowledge-hundreds-nigerians-new-york-jonathan-delegation-un-general-as 3 Likes |

I sincerely hope that's not how you reason? Lie No 2: SR got to "see" the president's iteniary.......really? Do these SR fools expect us to believe that a prestigious hotel in New York will release closely guarded and secretive details about a VISITING HEAD OF STATE to better media houses, talkless of those clowns at SR?What's 'closely guarded and secretive' about a hotel booking, you think they're at Transcorp? Did SaharaReporters lie when they informed us that Patience was specifically in Germany undergoing a medical operation, in which this same ediotic Abati was spinning out lies that Patience was on holidays? Did SaharaReporters lie when they informed Nigerians about the death of GEJ's brother?! It is on video that even your president heard the news of the death of his brother first from SaharaReporters! Did SaharaReporters lie when they told us what was happening exactly with late Yar'Adua? Even when the mumu vice president - GEJ had no clue where his late boss was!. Has this same son of the devil - Abati refuted the facts presented by SaharaReporters about GEJ's trip to Ethiopia and Australia??! I thoroughly believe SaharaReporters. SaharaReporters has proven beyond several times to be non-biased and openly state how GEJ is marching on towards running this nation bankrupt. 5 Likes |

ochukoccna: Truth be told, the President deserves the best hotel for your own sake my brother. Would you rather be happy your sitting President stays in a low life 100dollars studio room? Also talking about the private jets of business men, I have been opportuned to be close enough to 2 owners of jets here in Lagos, their schedules are too tight to meet up with the "few" straight destination flights from Nigeria. Take for example Wale Tinubu who holds meetings in atleast 3countries a week and has to quickly catch with his duties in Nigeria too. Nigerian business men are hustlers and always on the move. Where Queen they go why she need private Jet? Guess that's why our Obas are not into such too? Like Bishop Oyedepo, that's a man that preaches in a foreign country at night and has to meet up with the church service at Otta by 6.30am. They need 2 jets sef. |

1forall: 1) OF COURSE IT'S AN OUTRAGEOUSLY LARGE NUMBER!!! It makes absolutely no sense at all. 2) You think it's that easy to view the President itenieary? You think one can just walk up to any hotel and simply demand for it? You must either too naive or must have watched too many Jason Bourne/James Bond movies. Which hotel mgt in its right senses will make public detailed info on a visiting head of state residing with them when such action puts the life of the Head of state at risk? Truly, common sense (and simple logical reasoning) ain't common anymore. |
