k.style: don't mind them. these are people that couldn't afford bicycle but will complain of a man buying car of 500,000 naira instead of one million. bus conductor must remove their slippers before he collect his money. I did IT at Egbin thermal station. the cost of building that station in the early 80's is high. Compare it to now, u will see that is going five times higher. gas pipeline was run from south south to that place. you know the cost? for Lagos to do bigger MW they expect. very big fund and longer time is required. forget about those hopeless youth they don't read news nor research about information before commenting. So money for other projects should be diverted power. they should tell their dads to use their school fees to buy a befitting generator |

......"At the end of 2001, it was revealed that its reported financial condition was sustained substantially by an institutionalized, systematic, and creatively planned accounting fraud, known since as the Enron scandal. Enron has since become a well-known example of willful corporate fraud and corruption. The scandal also brought into question the accounting practices and activities of many corporations in the United States and was a factor in the creation of the Sarbanes–Oxley Act of 2002. The scandal also affected the greater business world by causing the dissolution of the Arthur Andersen accounting company......"[2]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enron Trust the thief of lagos thefnubu to be involved with power company that perpetuated the biggest corporate fraud in the history of USA. Enron was a fraud and so is this 270mw power plant with or without a name change. just like the lagos sunborn yacht hotel, this lagos enron/AES 270mw power plant on a barge also sailed away! 2 Likes 1 Share

Enron sold its interests in the barge project to AES, due to the financial problems it had when the US Government found out about its cooked books. The AES barge is still hooked to Egbin and supplying power to the national grid as we speak. The reason why the project was termed a failure is because the electricity generated by the barge is fed into the national grid, instead of being distributed solely in Lagos. My challenge still stands. Can anybody supply proof that the barge has not been supplying power to the national grid? (I'd really like to see that proof). |

Pioneering Role of Lagos in Power Projects Today, the AES project is supplying close to 230megawatts to the Egbin Thermal Station, from where the power is feed into the National Grid. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/pioneering-role-of-lagos-in-power-projects/75222/ |

Power: Again, Lagos sets the pace in IPP Before 1999, the National Electric Power Authority,NEPA, had the sole monopoly of power generation and distribution in Nigeria. While there were suggestions on how to break that grip, Lagos State became the first state to do so with the initiation of Enron Power Project on August 1, 2009. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/06/power-again-lagos-sets-the-pace-in-ipp/ |
