The .ng domain seems to have gone into extinction, many site owners in Nigeria prefer to use other TLDs in place of the one for Nigeria and even government establishments are not exempted.
I can understand the fact that it takes longer period than necessary for the body in charge to process registration requests and the NIRA people also appear to care less.
But is that enough reason for webmasters not to promote our country domain name?

You cannot successfully promote a bad product. You have stated that the process is slow and those who should be more concerned care less, what do you expect web developers to do? Ask their clients to wait forever for domain names when others are registering other domains in a matter of seconds or minutes?

I guess politics messed everything up as many groups just thought about the money to be made without taking time to understand what it takes to setup and maintain a reliable IT infrastructure.

We are always very fast to blame someone for every problem.
Maybe we should each develop and dedicate one website to the course.
Its our domain name whether we like it or not.
Meanwhile , this is not a case you win in a hurry because, i ve seen thousands of dutch, german, spanish and french websites with dotcom domain which i believe belongs to the united states.
