Much has been said about the north's born to rule mentality and the fact that they don't want "GEJ" a southerner to continue as president come 2015. The government of Jonathan has overtly and covertly encouraged sentiments of sectionalisation in a bid to have a firm grip over the political terrain. Plenty a southerner, especially those from the south-east and south-south are quick to say "the president is our own and he must remain come 2015", criminals (read:militants) have given ultimatums. Performance, sincerity and fairness(yes fairness) have all taken a back sit!

53years ago, Nigeria started as a democratic nation, unfortunately this was disrupted by young military officers who carried out the 1st coup which subsequently gave birth to coups upon coups. It was southern officers without the mandate of southern citizens that partook in this coup. Northern officers with their southern cronies and without the mandate of northern citizens subsequently found a way to benefit in this new found way of changing governments(coups)! It was simply a game of who has guns and guts! How does this justify the northern born to rule tag?
Flash forward to 1999, it was the north who's leaders decided the presidency be given to OBJ-a southerner. In 2003, it was a northerner(Atiku) who had the party machinery but yet still, allowed OBJ to come for a second term! Where was the born to rule mentality?
In 2007, it was OBJ(a southerner) who used efcc to humble the leading candidate odili(a southerner) so as to pave way for he's annointed candidate (yar'adua). Was this a northern game plan? Or OBJ's game plan?
When yar'adua fell sick, it was senator bala mohammed and david mark (northerners) who championed "the doctrine of necessity". Where was the born to rule mentality?
In 2011, it was sule lamido,Aliyu babangida and Rabiu kwankwaso who openly spoke and stood against the northern consensus candidate arrangement. Where was the born to rule mentality?
In the same 2011, northern governors mobilised and made sure jonathan got the required 25% in their states, where was the born to rule mentality?

Now that jonathan has proven to be a mediocre, his only arsenal is "northern born to rule"
