River state GOVERNOR Chibuike Amaechi has again lashed out at some of the alleged actions of the Police in the state, describing them as an attempt to turn Rivers into a military state by the security agency.
The governor asserted this yesterday, at a ceremony at Liberation Stadium, Port Harcourt, to mark the 53rd anniversary of the country’s independence, also urged the people of Rivers to join forces with the state government to resist the move.
He recalled how the Police dispersed the newly recruited 13,000 teachers by the state government at the Liberation Stadium over unfounded excuse that they were hired to protest against President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
It would be recalled that the newly recruited teachers were invited by the state Ministry of Education to collect their posting letters before they were dispersed by the Police command in the state.
The governor said all measures should be taken to thwart attempts by those plotting to disrupt the flow of democracy in the state.
Governor Amaechi further assured that his administration would continue to deliver the dividends of democracy to the state, adding that he would not compromise on the standard of education in the state.
He said “ The People must come together to chase away those who want to turn Rivers State into a military state.
“ The state is identified by an elected government and we must identify with a civilian government”.

Amaechi is just a very unserious person, nobody is after you and your state. You are just chasing shadows and creating issues for yourself, when you leave that seat people will tell you the bitter truth.
