Rep Member Partners MTN, NCC, USPF To Equip Epe Schools By Jumu’ah Abiodun, Epe A member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Lanre Mukaila Odubote, representing Epe Federal Constituency, has distributed education materials worth millions of naira to education institutions in his constituency. The education materials were provided by communication giants, MTN; National Communications Commission (NCC) and Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) while the lawmaker facilitated the donation of the materials to schools in his constituency. MTN provided 420 pairs of chairs and tables for pupils and teachers of Agbowa Junior and Senior Community Grammar Schools; NCC provided 110 computers for students of Micheal Otedola College of Primary Education; while USPF provided another 100 computers to pupils of Okemagba Junior and Senior High Schools, Mojoda, Epe. All the computers provided are fully connected to the internet. The Agbowa project was officially commissioned by Deputy Chairman, All Progressive Congress (APC), Lagos State, Pa S. A. Sunmola. Speaking on behalf of the schools, Principal of Agbowa Senior Grammar School, Mr. Adeyemi Felix Oluleye, praised Odubote for facilitating the project and also MTN for donating the materials aimed at helping young Nigerians attain their education needs. However, the school principal pleaded for more of such donations. At MOCPED, Nigeria’s maiden tertiary institution for training of primary school teachers, 110 computers donated to the students by the Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) courtesy of House of Representatives. Speaking at the programme, the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Communication, Honourable Oyetunde Ojo, representing Ekiti West/ Ijoye Federal Constituency of Ekiti State expressed surprise and happiness the way the institution had managed the computers provided for it. “I’m very delighted and indeed surprise at how well the computers are being managed and of course I’m pleasantly surprised at how huge the library is,” Ojo said. He added that “initially the 110 computers we gave to them were for the students but this is my imagination. So within the next seven months, the House would provide another 110 computers for the institution so that lecturers too can have access to computer with internet”. At Okemagba Junior and Senior High Schools, Mojoda, Epe, another 100 computers were provided by the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF). The computers were connected to internet and powered by solar power energy. Speaking on behalf of her organisation at the event, Barrister Olufunmilola A. Lamuye, stated that, “this is just a tip of the ice berg. There are still more to come. We have done a lot and we are still going to do more”. For more visit www.thegazellenews.com |
