panafrican: 1. Mandela; South AfricaHouphouet Botany? Yes he Cote d'lvoire had peace and stability during his reign. The economy was strong and basic infrastructure was available (at least in the major cities) but Houphouet Botany's leadership was based on a cult of personality. He never put in place a structure or institutionalized the changes to out live him.. Little wonder Ivory coast disintegrated once he dead. I would also add Paul Kagami of Rwanda to the list. What that man has achieved since the genocide is remarkable. Rwanda now has the best health care system in Africa, best universal education system, it's a leader in ICT and tagged the Singapore of Africa.. With one of the fastest growing economies in Africa Rwanda also has the highest human development index In africa.. |

These three won the difficult Moi Ibrahim award for good governance in africa which i agree:1.FESTUS MOGAE -Botswana 2.PEDRO PIREZ-Cape Verde 3.JOACHIM CHISSANO-Mozambique.Also,if there is the position of an african president,4.THOMAS SANKARA-Burkina Faso is fit to be the president.5.NELSON MANDELA-SA refused to run for 2nd term,knowing he will win among other achievements.But these two can't be forgotten,they did the extraordinary EMPEROR HAILE SELASSIE-Ethiopia & KWAME NKRUMAH-Ghana. |

The list was incomplete for not having mentioned president Robert Mugabe. He protected his people from backward practices such as same sex marriage . He protected the land from foreign predators and made his country one of the most educated countries in the world, the first in Africa. Mugabe himself has a lot of university degrees. You mean the man who bankrupt his country, destroyed it's agriculter industry, knocked it's infustructer from great to crapp, used vilonce on opostion parties, caussed millions of his citzens to flee his country. |
