72 hours after grounding of operations of Dana airlines limited, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority NCAA, is yet to commence the audit of the airline,BusinessDay has learnt.
The regulatory agency through the ministry of aviation grounded the operations of of the airline on Sunday in order to conduct audit on its operations.
But BusinessDay learnt on Tuesday that the airline is yet to be invited by any official either from the ministry or NCAA for any question or related issue.
An industry source disclosed that "up till now nobody has heard anything from the agency on any audit exercise."
'' under International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) standards, the NCAA ought to be autonomous to be able to perform its responsibilities of without fear or bias. The government should not interfere with the responsibilities of the regulatory agencies so that it might not lead to the country's blacklist on the ICAO registry.
''Air returns are initiated in line with ICAO standards and in the interest of safety of passengers and crew (it is a precautionary safety procedure). Airline operators should be encouraged as instances of applying punitive measures will put pressure on the operators which in itself is a safety concern.''
