Yea this year is out of it but schools are already receiving apps for next year. So start early. You can write the English test if you want. I wrote but eventually didn't need it.

Morning all. On whether IELTS or TOEFL, I wouldn't have commented again but for the benefit of those making the choice.I once wanted to write too, so I had to do some research. IELTS is more acceptable for the purpose of travelling to Canada. TOEFL is preferred for US.But this is not to say that Canada does not accept TOEFL, just that IELTS is more favoured. This is not based on hearsay. Just do some research online, or visit the British Council to find out.
IELTS has a British origin, and is maintained by Cambridge. TOEFL has an American origin, maintained by an organisation in the US.Lest we forget, the English speaking part of canada has strong historical ties with the UK, as those that settled in those parts migrated from the UK. Till date, the Queen of England is still the Head of State of Canada. Perhaps, these reasons account for why Canada favours IELTS which is run by a UK institution.
Note that most schools in Canada waive English tests for students who have been instructed in a previous programme run in English. The IELTS requirement is often used for immigration purposes (Permancent Residence).
We may check the following link for some useful hints from peeps that have tried making a choice between the two, and we can also do further research as we deem fit.
Great day guys.

funmi14: Speechless... My embassy pplication refused, highly discouraged.
Major reasons are....

Am not satisfy that you have sufficent and available Financial resources without working in canada:

... for the course of studies;
.
...to maintain yourself and any family members who are accompanying you during proposed period of study;....

... to pay the cost of transporting yourself and any family member who are accompanying you to and from canada

... Your personal assets and financial status.

I think everything boil down on my acct statmt...( my bother.. Sponsor... Later called me this evening after hearing the embassy feedback that, he actually empty the acct for his busness after he gave me the acct statment.

Mood highly distorted.
Pls house,, what is the way forward.
Thanks.

my mum U.S. & Jerusalem Visa stamped page.

Ricardoveedgee: you can risk taking the z10 or any other smartphone to the phone carrier's kiosk over there; they can put a sim in it and test to see if it works. Quite often those phone compatibility websites may not be on point esp if the network is a CDMA type. Anyway, used phones are quite cheap if you end up having to buy one.
Thanks dear I can risk it and if I doesn't work am left with no option than to get a new one
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 5 by chichi89(f): 8:49am On Jul 18, 2014
You're very correct my brother. Some schools no longer accept toefl because of the testing fraud uncovered sometime early this year. To be on the safe side ielts is the way. grin
