** APC, PDP Trade Accusations over Jonathan's Visit to Ekiti

By Toba Suleiman

As President Goodluck Jonathan visits Ekiti State on Saturday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state has accused the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of planning to disrupt the visit by causing a breakdown of law and order.

The APC interim Chairman, Chief Jide Awe, who made the allegation during a press conference in Ado-Ekiti yesterday, alleged that the PDP was planning series of attacks on the day of the visit to suggest that the APC was out to embarrass the president.

President Jonathan will be visiting Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD) on Saturday to witness the maiden edition of the convocation ceremony of the first private university in the state.

Also, it would be recalled that Awe had once alleged that the leaders of the party were planning to kidnap the Chairman of the PDP in the state, Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe, in order to frame up some APC chieftains as the mastermind of the heinous crime.

Besides, Awe also raised the alarm that members of the opposition party were allegedly planning to disrupt the Wednesday third year anniversary rally of Governor Kayode Fayemi billed to hold at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in the state capital.

The APC stalwart disclosed that the objective of the PDP was to heat up the polity for possible declaration of state of emergency by President Jonathan in the state.

But, while responding to the allegation, the PDP Publicity Secretary, Pastor Kola Oluwawole, described it as figments of imaginations of the APC leaders, saying they were struggling to survive having seen that their popularity has nosedived.

While dispelling the attack rumour, Oluwawole added that the only preoccupation of the PDP now is so as to how to put its house in order on how to present a credible candidate that would dislodge Fayemi in 2014.

The PDP spokesman, who described the allegation as a fallacy, urged the security agencies to beam their searchlights on members of APC in the state, saying "each time they are planning evil, they will always mention the name of our party as a cover up.”
