Its business and all about demand, supply and sometimes politics. in this case, the aviation ministry is the one being political. 3 Likes |

http://dailytrust.info/index.php/news/8088-kano-govt-we-are-yet-to-hear-from-qatar-air The Kano State government says it is not aware that the application of the Qatar Airways had been rejected. In a telephone interview, the Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Alhaji Danburam Abubakar Nuhu, said the government would react to it officially when the airline briefs it on the development. According to him, there are no regular international flights in Kano at the moment. “Kano remains the centre of business in the country. We are working hard to see that Ethiopia Air that is flying from Enugu comes here because the volume of business in Kano is higher than that of Enugu. A group recently rated Kano as second to Lagos in contributing to the country’s economy. “The group, known as Renaissance Group, said Kano State contributes $10 billion annually to Nigeria’s economy after Lagos. You know aside from oil, Kano State is the second contributor to the GDP. Our textile market annually contributes N10 billion to the economy, Dawano market N20 billion,” he said. But former Managing Director of the Nigerian Airways, Captain Mohammed Joji, said the Open Air Policy allows airlines to land anywhere in the country. “The same policy was signed with USA in 2003 when Mrs. Kema Chikwe was Aviation Minister. The policy is not good to developing economies like ours. If you sign it, it will kill the economy of the county because they will not pay any commission for BASA,” he said in a phone interview 1 Like |

The reason i made reference to crime is that, wasn't Aba and other towns the go to areas for small businesses and retailers? What gave rise to the need for bakassi boys? Those arab airlines won't do business with 'jews', especially black 'jews' i know that for shizzle. 2 Likes |

nmaihat: My dears u just have to accept it because the refusal is due to the overriding security of the good people of Nigeria. Ama ndi ana-eze! (Do we know who to fear?). Look if war breaks out, israel will not need FG permission to supply jews weapons neither will Saudi need permission to supply mallam weapons. But do you know there are more small arms in the east than any other region. you would expect the boko haram areas to have more weapons. 3 Likes |

When their planes get blown up in Kano now. Some oily folks will come out and start shouting that safety was not considered. Now they are being offered safer options. They better accept it. They should keep off Boko territory unless they have a hidden agenda. Note that all the airlines shouting for Kano route are middle eastern, very good move by the ministry. We don't need an illegal Boko arms window. 9 Likes |
