Hello all. Please I need some help with my rx330. My fuel cap fell on the ground and since then a check engine light came up with vsc. (Apparently the check light is switching off the vsc as a failsafe process). I scanned the car and the P0453 code came up(evaporative emisions bla bla....). I also perceived smell of fuel whenever I start the car. Please what can be done to solve this prob as i have ordered and used a brand new fuel cap and the prob still persists.

I also have other issues, I have been trying to solve for sometime now. it started like this when I bought the SUV in USA my uncle that helped in buying the SUV few days later notice check engine light has come on.it was taken to Lexus servicing company and they said it was catalyst bank-1 and blast because one of the headlamp was not working. The two were changed and check light was cleaned using scanner. When the car arrived nijia about 1week the check light came on again. I thereafter scanned, it showed p0420. Few months later I scanned my SUV again an additional code came up which is p0452 ( evap valve off malfunction). Now my SUV have three codes and I'm not comfortable with it. Pls I need to fix them, I like my baby a lot.

AFS stands for Adaptive Front-Lighting System,
It moves the headlights right or left in concert with turning the steering wheel. This system starts to operate when the vehicle is moving above 19 MPH.
You can turn off this feature by pushing in the AFS OFF switch.down by the fuel door release button (hope it is not pressed)
Meanwhile I hope all the harnesses in the headlamp area are connected firmly? Check them again.

P0420 catalyst efficiency below threshold bank 1.
Possible causes
- Three way catalyst converter Bank 1 bad
- Exhaust leak
- Intake air leaks
- Fuel injectors may be faulty
- Fuel injector leaks
- Spark plugs may be faulty
- Improper ignition timing
- Engine Control Module (ECM)

P0452 Lexus - EVAP System Pressure Sensor/Switch Low Input

- Faulty Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) Pressure sensor
- Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) Pressure sensor harness is open or shorted

B2412 is a swivel motor malfunction in your Left Hand side headlamp.

Did something impacted on that headlamp or someone worked on the headlamp?
Check if the car had been in a collision at that side.

I want you to do follow this step.

WARNING HID headlamp contains Very high voltage and if tampered with, can result to serious shock, injury or death. Lomomike isn't liable for any incident or accident to individual or part if anything(s) goes wrong (sic)

Turn off your headlamp, remove your battery terminal and open the cover housing the swivel motor, (its a white flat round plastic with some tabs) use your hand to roll the swivel mechanism, do this to feel for resistance. Then, replace your battery terminal and tell me your findings.

Theres suppose to be a resistance posed by the swivel motor and other parts.

My IS250 was very low on fuel pertaining to the fuel situation in the country , virtually on 0miles remaining ...was parked home ...i only started it once when i used the car charger to charge my phones for a while as i had run out of fuel in gen and nepa dint help out...but during one of my starting up to just keep the battery back on check as i used it on ignition on, it went off so i figured it burnt out all the fuel ...
Got about 10l of fuel just yesterday tp put in it , start and drive to a filling station to fill up , but unfortunately it wouldnt start ....googled a whole lot about it on club lexus and some are suggesting the fuel should be at a min 5gallons thats about 18.L once its been shut off ...so would be getting more to add up today but dont know if any one has experienced this or knowns anyone who has .....I have my fingers in my mouth scared out that i may have ruined something more

Avoid hybrids for now, in Nigeria, even a 2001 camry V6 may be a very challenging task to some mechanics. This makes a hybrid 10 generations ahead of them.

What quantity did you put in it , before it came to life

Stop the act of running your tank dry of fuel. It makes your fuel pump suck in dirts, and air vacuum this heats it up and damages it.

Do you know fuel act as cooling fluid for the fuel pump?

I have tried that, the swivel motors are free, I have seen the other swivel motor moving fine when i start the car. Additional information is, the affected side use to have moist which has been there since the car came. For the other problem I don't stay in Lagos. I have some mechanic experience, I need guide on how to solve them. Thanks guys for una concern

Was never my intention if not for unforseen fuel situation I had it at red but only started it a few times in the house when I used it at Ignition on to charge my phones. Did that to let the alternator charge back the battery.
Yes am aware it serves as a cooling function for the fuel pump. Read extensively on it when I faced the issue

Very glad I put in another 20-25l got it to a bit above half even. Though it took a while of cranking or rather a hard start.
When it later did. It was shuddering with the check Vsc and check showing. I was even scared to put it off as it took a whole lot before it started. I allowed it run for a while took it on a street drive though noticed the rpm was lazy to act even with depressed throttle. Came back home and. Then turned it off. And as I turned it back on . Volla. It came back to life. Rpm response on point the check vsc and check disappeared. Dressing up now to give it some carbon burn then a fill up.

Considering an LS430 as a daily driver.

The LS430 was between 2001 and 2005, so any of those model years and I'm looking at a SWB so I don't look like a driver whilst driving it.

In 3003-2006, The engine was retuned again to bump more ponies and a 6speed speed auto gearbox was added, dynamic radar cruise control was added to improve the PCS Pre-Collision System which warns the driver and then brings the car to a stop if a vehicle ahead stops, LED tail-lamps and AFS, lowbeam and Bi-xenon highbeams new wheels, touch sensitive door handles among others.


Note: the LS430 is the first automobile to earn the highest score for theft deterrence.
