bloglover: We are supposed to have been past dis by now. What is going on in d health sector??
Cholera outbreak has nothing to do with health sector, personal hygiene and most importantly access to clean water is the main factors the cause outbreaks. When i was presenting a paper on cholera before the strike, i did mention about how past governors of northern states contributed to the past outbreaks. They failed to provide access to clean water supply for their people.take for example, in eastern Nigeria, you have well do individual who dredge borehole for the various communities and thereby minimizing or even stopping their people entirely from going to streams which are easily contaminated with stool passed by cholera victims. but in northern Nigeria, the rich individuals only feed and turn their people to aramajiri, neglecting the fact that they as individuals can also help in the development of the community.

sometimes people with little facts make so much noise. Most people will not go to the health care centre till the case is too late, rather they will keep going to patent medicine sellers to manage an illness they dont even understand. Its not all about GEJ or FASHOLA. We also need to take responsibility and not think every illness can be treated by the chemist.

Put dettol in drinking water You mean you have been drinking dettol-water, I pity your body.
what i see here is lack of proper sensitization. So u don't know you have to disinfect the water before making use of it; adding disinfectant to the water for bathing, washing, cleaning et cetera and boil water which is meant for drinking.
As for " it's government responsibility to providing good water supply for it's citizens", i disagree with that. We should learn to do things ourselves *in my area almost every building has borehole*, even to the detriment of our health we still wait on our government who doesn't care to provide for us*it sucks*

Ignorance and irresponsibility all around. Cholera can quickly spread, become an epidemic and here we are making it political/tribal. If not acted upon immediately it can quickly spread out of control especially in the rainy season and on poor drainage or unhygienic areas. Lagos should be plastered with posters and announcements warning residents to boil water before drinking, wash hands before eating and avoid stepping in unsanitary places. Are they doing that? No. Irresponsible. Cholera has no boundaries...maybe brought into Lagos and would definitely be taken to other parts of the country because people do travel.

It's the N100,000 boreholes that cause outbreaks like this. Pls get informed.
