eeeeeee:
Why all the outburst,
It is an error by a Turkish airline plane.

Did you even read the article?

Everything is okay in nigeria until there are casualtiesis and even when casualties are not more than 2 or 3 it can still be excused. Is prevention not better than cure? We must join hand to do the right thing in this country and condemn everything that is threat to our life. We neither invent nor make these planes, we acquire them but ignore all safety precauions stipulated by the manufacturers to avoid disasters.

Since the NCAA spokesman can brush it off as minor incident I am not surprised at people wanting to know why this is FP. A commercial plane almost hitting (getting a few meters close) another plane in the US makes the major news and an investigation is launched. Why?...because something went wrong and if not corrected it may result in tragedy the next time. In this case I would want to know why the plane was parked so close to the stopping area and why was the pilot given permission to land when it was not safe to do so. If the plane was being parked then I would say pilot error but taxiing on landing I blame the air traffic controller. Don't be surprised if the flaps on the damaged planes fail due to wing damage considered as minor...that would be yet another disaster and maybe then people would realize any damage to an aircraft shouod be taken very seriously.

"Taxing error" my foot! angry angry
Is that how they "taxi-error" in other places?

Planes taxi to "take-off and to stop/park" so no one could tell us here that it was moving very slowly.
It does not excuse such failures on the part of those who should ensure such dont happen.

We are talking about "impact" by two planes, here!
What about possible structural damage, aside the obvious and seemingly cosmetic damages that could have occured?

Why cant we learn to do things properly in this country? Why dont we value life at all?
Do you bash your "new" vehicle and then take it for repairs and say "dont worry, its okay, nothing happened"?

Ist this sort of silly thinking/mentality that got our leaders treating us like shyte, when it appears some of us (like you), dont value our lives.
Next time it will be its just the engine that fell-out mid-air but since nobody died, its OKAY AND FINE!

We got it coming.

The only persons at fault here are the Pilots of the Turkish Airlines plane..

Ay traveller knows that until a Plane gets to its parking stand, every other activity relating to parking is handled by the Pilot. The plane must have been moving very slowly because for it to have brushed the wings of a parked plane, means it had due accelerated off of the runway and was taxing to park (which is usually slow) when he brushed the parked airplane.

We are also talking about Lagos airport that carried the highest amount of traffic in Nigeria and things like this are not uncommon.

The aircrafts would be checked out by professionals (which are usually reps of the aircrafts manufacturers company) and would not take off until it has been certified fit to fly. The airlines involved here are international carriers and I'm sure they would not just say its okay after just a visual inspection. Plus, neither you nor I know the gravity of the collision so we can't start over exaggerating the impact and predicting engines falling out in the sky.

It is a regular occurrence around the world for planes to brush against each other especially in countries with small airports, parking stands and space..

You really need to chill out.. Nigeria is not as bad as you persimmist make us out to be..

NOT ONE FAULT CAN BE PUT ON ANY NIGERIAN OR AIRPORT WORKER.. THE TURKISH PILOT IS AT FAULT HERE.

Can you provide us with an example of one where such happened and it became major news that led to an investigation? Or are you just being a Nigerian that just pulls facts out of thin air?

You get the point sha... It happens. Minor accident
Re: Two Planes Collide At Lagos Airport by cyril10(m): 1:28pm On Oct 26, 2013
The error should either be from the pilot or the aircraft marshaler ,it has nothing to do with the airport. I don't know why we post a lot of ignorance in this forum just to rubbish the people we don't seem to like or appreciate.

Yes, even if a bird crap on an aircraft window, it is Stella's fault and she must be hanged!
They want Stella hanged for bogus crimes cooked up by a faceless online website; sahara-reporters.
But they won't let EFCC or other constitutionally mandated federal agencies to investigate their bogus allegation if there was truly any corrupt enrichment of the minister in the said procurement of bullet proof vehicles, a deal she did not even sign!

Hon. Stella Oduah's true crime is that she dared to improve the aviation sector which people from a certain section of the country have bastardized and choked in a strangle hold.

Those tribalist people in their malicious plot against Nigeria had killed Nigeria Airways and killed Air Nigeria. Those people from a certain section of the country frustrated the deal with Virgin Atlantic. All these was done to maintain the strangle hold monopoly to compel all foreign airlines to only use Lagos airport as point of entry into Nigeria.

Recall that it took heaven and earth to allow Lufthansa & Air France to fly to Port Harcourt, inspite of them servicing mainly the oil industry. The previous yoruba aviation ministers had strangely insisted that they stop at Lagos and international oil workers can use our local airlines to fly into Port Harcourt Intl. !

Princess Stella Oduah had not only worked against all their obstacles and subterfuge to achieve President Jonathan's pledge to finally upgrade the Akanu Ibiam Intl. Airport,Enugu into a true international airport, but also she threatened their monopoly by the planned introduction of a new National carrier ! For this, she must be given a bad name in order to be hanged. Poor useless people that imagine other Nigerians are so dumb to see through their pretenses and wicked plot.

The questions we've failed to ask all these while are as follows:
1. Why are all the accidents predominately associated with lagos airport?
2. Who is the DG in charge of lagos airport?
3. Are there enough facilities to support the air traffic to/fro lagos airport?
4. What are the procedures in place to manage the airport efficient?
5. Don't we think we've to revisit the air route planning in nigeria?

Finally, I don't blame MOA for opening other international airports..that's my take peeps..One Nigeria!!!

And to all you tribalists, Oduah is the best thing that has happened to Nigeria's aviation sector. She's going nowhere. tongue

bllaster1: There is a conpiracy in SW to ridicule the aviation minister. Why lagos everytime.
How come a plane all the way from Saudi comes to Nigeria and cause havoc yet no one is pointing finger at the pilot.
Why are some tribal bigots looking at the wrong direction hoping to find solution.

sounding like Planes have side mirrors lolzzzzzzz! !
Nigerian youths are retards.

We dey talk say two Aeroplane wey don land, taxi commot for runway sef.. one don park, the other wan dey wan do reverse packing when the pilot over turn the steering com jam the other plane small.... YOU go carry matter wey 2 planes wey nearly jam each other for air join our own..

Nna na wah o!!

Show me where a high powered investigation was carried out into two planes on ground (one parked, one taxing to park or taxing to the runway for take-off) and accidentally 'brush' or even hit each other was done abroad?! And dont bring the KLM/Pan am collison as tha was attributed to the Pilots error (poor understanding of english).
