NAUG ask you "Who Are The Ambassadors Of Corruption In Nigeria?" by Yusphull(m): 5:32pm On Oct 28, 2013 |
At 9:52 am on Friday, I received a call from this number 08023805103 addressing himself as Engr Babatunde Ajayi and works with NNPC. He said I gave him my number but I knew it wasn't true, but because of my curiosity I played along with him. He asked me to call him back which I did. He said he wants to help me with a supply contract after which executed, we both share the profit. He said he'll forward a number to me cos the person will be in Lagos and I can contact him on how to get the goods. I thanked him and ended the call, and this was my response to him via SMS. "" Hello sir, U really tried, no doubt but I must advice you that scamming biz has gone beyond that level u re still operating on. I guess I must have been careless with my document for u to gain access to it, nevertheless, I'll implore u to join NAUG for you to be legally and gainfully employed and the govt. will also know your challenges. I don't blame you, I blame the federal govt and her cabinets. For more information log on www.facebook.com/naug."" This is one of the many scams innocent Nigerians falls victim to. The youths who are supposed to uphold the honour and glory of this country now engage in any sort of evil vices to sustain a livelihood such as yahoo yahoo, yahoo plus, armed robbery, ritual ism, kidnapping among others.. The mentality of an average Nigerian youth has been corrupt. He sees nothing wrong on preying on his neighbour. But can we really blame them? (NO), I'll say blame the system itself. The Nigerian system itself is 99.5% corrupt. Corruption has become a common virus and has eaten deep into the veins, marrows and blood streams of our leaders. The mindset of an average after been sworn to the seat of power is to loot, how to acquire so much wealth for himself They even termed it as a "national cake".. Often times, I wonder if the Nigerian constitution has any guidelines to it or sanctions for abuse of power. Public funds are been diverted for personal use. " Dividends of democracy" someone once said. Imagine a minister acquiring two armoured vehicles for personal use with public funds for #255 million in a country where another family doesn't know where and when the next meal is coming from. It is nothing but a colossal waste of public fund. I wonder why she needs more protection than the presidency. When the ministry of defence is purchasing locally made armoured vehicles. Does she have a higher life premium than our army troops who are working day and night to protect the country ? I listen to news on this incident and my heart bleeds, I weep for the unborn generations. There is no respect to the rule of law anymore. If this was to happen in countries where laws are obeyed, where the credibility of process is being respected, such public officers would be sack and prosecuted but reverse is the case in the Nigerian system. Instead she's even going on tour as if nothing ever happened. Presently she's in Israel where the president is as well on holy pilgrimage. should we call that a coincidence? I wonder who is fooling who... Hmmmmm smh This is just another instance of the level to which impunity had grown among public officers because of the federal govt inability to fight corruption. The system as a whole is corrupt. It was gathered that the presidency inaugurated a three man committee to investigate the issue as if Nigerians were fools. We may have been fooled in the past but longer will we be. What was the outcome of the Farouk Lawan led committee on fuel subsidy? What Femi Otedola did then was to show us that the foundation itself is faulty. The hunter now became the haunted. Forgive me to quote this scripture from the holy book," if the foundation be destroyed, what can the righteous do". I am sure the legendary musician of blessed memory, Fela Anikulapo Kuti must have pictured this era when he sang the song "argument argument". Forgive me if I sound to bias but you all will agree with me that its nothing but the bitter truth.. What baffles me most is the road on which this vehicles are to be used. Is it not the death traps called roads that you and I commute everyday? (I laugh in my Egba dialect)... The other time, it was senator Iyabo Obasanjo Bello, Hon. Dimeji Bankole speaker of the house of rep, Otunba Gbenga Daniel former governor of Ogun state, the president ex boss and former governor of Bayelsa state Alamesiagha, instead they were given presidential pardon but if it were to be a common man, he would have rot in jail. The lists are endless. There are so many that ears haven't heard but thank God for the internet. Fellow Nigerian youths, the time has come to make a change cos I can feel the wind of change blowing. It is time to stop addressing the symptom of Nigeria's challenges and launch a full attack on the disease itself called Corruption and its causes. It is time to flush away corrupt leaders and corrupt practices from our country ..... Arise O compatriots to the clarion call O sleeping giants, Arise from your slumber Its time to make our leaders accountable to us. Let's turn from spectators into participants. More than 450yrs before the birth of christ, Confucius said "" what I hear I forget but what I see I remember and what I do I understand"". Let's not give them an opportunity to call us fools to our very face. We have too much to do in this ugly scenario we found ourselves rather than sitting on the fence and putting up I DON'T CARE ATTITUDE... We need you to step out of the gray twilight into the bright sunlight, so that we all can see the dawn of a new day. Let's say no to job sales, frivolous working conditions. Join our debate on whatsapp 08064677418 or 08036555799 I leave you with this wisdom nugget. - Fear and procrastination are major enemies of success -When you want something you have never had, you have to do what you have never done. -Act as if it were impossible to fail -Liberty without duty is irresponsibility -The impossible is often the untried -You have no right to anything you have not pursued for the proof of desire is pursuit. -Our lives improves only when we take chances and the first and most difficult risk we can take is to be honest with ourselves. I rest my case. Culled from our Facebook page |
