This is how Plan B will work- that's if this news is for real. Managements will open register for as many lecturers are willing to resume work. Others will be relieved, and vacancies put up. New lecturers will be appointed and wholla, sanity will be restored. Meanwhile, disgruntled aggrieved sacked lecturers will sue FG to court. The case will be decided in their favor but appealed till it gets to the supreme court. That will be about 10-12years from now. Ask Ilorin 49. 6 Likes |

I seriously pity gullible goats who believe ASUU is fighting for PROGRESS or infrastructural developments in the universities. Just imagine the current governors, ministers, civil servants, legislators, private sector workers, etc going on strike or protesting or fighting for ANYTHING other than extra-pay/allowances for their pockets. That is impossible. ASUU is fighting for more allowances for lecturers, pure and simple. The other tales of fighting for infrastructural development is a facade to deceive gullible goats. 3 Likes |

That Nigeria's govt is full of incompetent fellows isnt news but what's news is ASUU and supposed intellectuals being endowed with unmitigated greed. Pres Yaradua made a fundamental error in selecting academicians to negotiate on behalf of the govt and once they came out with an agreement, he felt compelled to sign just to end a lingering strike - a mistake was made no doubt, but why would a band of self acclaimed intellectuals driven by nothing but greed seek to take advantage of an incompetent government to the detriment of the entire nation? Please tell me why this greedy men want to revamp Nigerias university through their personal bank accounts. 7 Likes |

Orlando Owoh: This government may be clueless, but it shouldn't make the whole world believe we all are. How is this suppose to work, schools opening without lecturers? Can the President, in like-manner, ask hospital patients not to seek treatment in privately owned hospitals but go to those owned by government even though doctors are on strike?if you are Ghanian, then stay away from Nigerian issues. If d story is true, any lecturer that refuses to go back to d classroom will be FIRED! Now can u imagine how many lecturers wd be willing to keep their jobs and dump dis senseless strike? Those who have been bought over by APC will go to court to contest their sack and d case will linger on end. And if they attempt to disrupt d public peace by way of protest, d police will clamp down on them and the masterminders will be charged for treasonable felony!! Get that. 1 Like |

nerodenero: No source and I think the news isn't tenable at all.The Plan B has specified in the report isn't realizeable because the Universities won't open if the lecturers are still on strike. The only good news from the report if it is true is that the President himself will meet with ASUU and present FG's latest offer.I guess that is what celebrating. It obvious that if the President can't persuade ASUU to go back, then, the end is near for ASUU and the effect on students will be appalling.if you are Ghanian, then stay away from Nigerian issues. "The President will at next Monday’s meeting present to the ASUU leadership the administration’s last concession for them to call off the prolonged strike." Oga Barney Jo, ASUU isn't asking for concessions, they say "IMPLEMENT" an agreement you were instrumental to forming. Jeez, I hate this government!!ew |

bamto: This is how Plan B will work- that's if this news is for real. We've been down this plan B road before, and as I can clearly recollect, being a student at that time, it didn't turn out as expected. Registers at all institutions were indeed opened and VCs ordered to take note of those lecturers that report to duty. ASUU however called their bluff and so in all the universities, the classes all were virtually empty - with the exception of Unilorin. The strike was eventually called off when a frustrated OBJ took ASUU to the court of arbitration and it was the court who then ordered the union to 'revert to the status quo'. That was how the inglorious six month old strike came to an end. FG has continually made the mistake of underestimating just how formidable a union ASUU is. Threats, blackmail, stoppage of salaries etc, didn't work in the past and are unlikely to now. 4 Likes |

Billyonaire: What you wrote up there is meaningless. In case of next time, the meaning is MALAPROPISM is: malapropism — noun an act or habit of misusing words ridiculously, especially by the confusion of words that are similar in sound. an instance of this, as in “Lead the way and we'll precede.” — Related forms mal·a·prop·is·tic, adjective Ironically, the grammar offence you committed is known as 'malapropism'. [quote author=Billyonaire]We all know that these lecturers do not know anything. Equipped with internet, students can totally study their courses and know beyond what their Lecturers know. It is time to abrogate ASUU and restore the Education system to Pre-ASUU days, Tertiary Education was better before ASUU was formed, and will be better after ASUU is abrogated. They right to peaceful Assembly, does not include the Liberty to Unite for Anarchy and totalitarian malapropisms against Education of our Youths. ASUU is totally interested in what goes into their individual bank accounts and not the plight of the Students in this country. u b original grade 1 mumu, tia roba idiota. Are u concern about today alone? What about your future (unborn) generation? What about the promises and agreement made by FG to ASUU? If we return to class now through short cut and hasty approach, can that solve the problems ravaging the educational sector? Why Will the govt. not take responsibility and save the educational future of the nation while millions are been raped from our treasury to celebrate birthdays and other meaningless engagements? ASUU must fight to finish without fear or intimidation so that we would not come to the same point again by next year. I RISE!!! 1 Like |
