I was at the Eagle Square, Abuja in January 2011 during the CPC party convention. I traveled the country supporting Buhari and his views. What I still get is what the manifesto of CPC amounts to. I hated PDP politics of patronage. There is no manifesto, except to win elections. However when someone is the President, there is a moral imperative to support them for the collective good. It is in the Holy Koran, Holy Bible and the traditional animist code. Why are people here very ritualistic, desperate and sad. I do know for a fact that being the president of Nigeria or even an office holder is a dubious honour. Fashola arguably is the best Governor in Nigeria by a mile. APC is a party of the disaffected and twisted politicians who believe that anything 'but Jonathan'. Nigeria deserves better. What have you done for this country except to expose bad and ill-begotten education. Remain silent wherever issues are discussed. Your freedom is not sacrosanct with respect to another citizen. agbameta: 1 Like |

callmenow: I am talking as a person who has lived in the US and EU, specifically UK amongst other places. Please come to London and repeat that nonsense and see what will happen. What gives an ill-informed person like you the grounds to imply that Obama who is probably the most reviled president because of his ethnic make is receiving the level of abuse people like you give to GEJ. GEJ despite his faults is clearly head and shoulders above his critics in all measurable areas. What do you know? What is freedom of expression? To call your parents inane 'names'. Will that mean that I will feel that I am exercising my freedom of expression? You come on forums to expose you lack of knowledge and your myopic ignorance. I suggest you read opinions and not espouse things which you do not know much about. Democracy does not mean GEJ is your servant. He is serving Nigeria as the president. Remember NIGERIA. Not you as an individual. But the collective. Is your views a collective view? Here, there and over there. You lived in the UK? I will give you an obvious example, when Jeremy Clarkson called Gordon Brown a one eyed Scottish id1ot despite knowing that he's one eyed, what happened to Jeremy Clarkson? Was he arrested or prosecuted? |
Re: El-rufai Retweets Insults On President Jonathan by funnyx(m): 3:51pm On Nov 10, 2013 |
Yeye People, a president that insult the nation everyday by perpetuating corruption, impunity, nepotism should not be insulted just because he's the president? And who compare the president to his parents if not a dummy? You chose your president by vote but you can't chose who your parents are. Nigeria is like a company and we are all shareholders, GEJ is the MD but unfortunately, has proved to be a failure. Any of the shareholders are free to call him any names and even insult him in any manner, if he's fed up he knows what to do. People who come here to defend GEJ are either dumb or being paid as he doesn't even know you exist, better use your time for something better. Critics put the govt on edge while praise singers merely encourage complacency, a president that can stand criticism is in the wrong job simples. |
Re: El-rufai Retweets Insults On President Jonathan by MARKREN: 3:53pm On Nov 10, 2013 |
Do not support the president and his govt but El-Rufia is out of order here. Pragmatic and constructive criticisim and not outright character assasination. But then GEJ brought this one on himself by reducing the office of the president to a religious ministry. God helps those who help themselves.. |

Are we talking about the same US where they not only insult the president openly everyday even on the radio, on TV, with billboards and posters? Like I said, you must be talking about the US and UK inside your room and parlor in your village. You are obviously a village dweller and you see the US and the UK only on your village square TV. The fact that you think the aso rock dullard is the best means nothing to me because such lunacy is very very synchronous with ignorant and unexposed village dwellers like you. 1 Like |

The amount of pressure that UK prime ministers get from the public, opposition parties and the media is unreal. Gordon Brown was called every name under the sun from a Fat fool to an incompetent slowpoke. After he claimed to have saved the world economy by nationalising Northern Rock and started engaging in quantitative easing, you dont want to know the names that the then Opposition Leader -David Cameron called him. Jeremy Clarkson, a popular TV personality went on air and called Gordon Brown a "Scottish One Eyed Idiott" - That was the first time I knew Gordon Brown is actually blind in one eye. It is absolutely disingenuous for you to come here and suggest that Nigerians are outliers when it comes to criticising their leaders. Please visit Guardian.co.uk, Telegraph.co.uk, dailymail.co.uk and read comments from Brits and you will quickly realise that Nigerians are very respectful towards their leaders. Americans are even worse when it comes to the way they castigate their leaders. I cannot believe you even used them as an example Actually I think, Nigerians are still conservative and have a obsequious attitude towards people in power, this could be due to years of military rule and the fact that politics in Nigeria is very tribal. |

There is nothing wrong in criticising your president if it's constructive criticism. Personal attacks and insults towards the president is silly because it reflects on you. If you say that your president is a ninny, what will people think of you? If you are someone led by a daft person, making decisions that affect your life, then who are you? I know some people will come on here and try to justify their stupidity, saying that this is done in other parts of the world. Well, just because this is done in the Western world, does this make it right? Why must Nigeria copy the worst parts of Western culture, and not the best parts, e.g. technological advancement? And by the way, even in the U.S., insulting your president is frowned upon. I wouldn't be surprised if many of those insulting their leader are psychotic/mentally ill. Just my opinion. |

If your president is making moronic decisions that continues to undermine the economy you should keep quiet so you don't appears stupeed? |

There is something in Nigeria called freedom of speech which happens to be one of your fundamental rights as a Nigerian. You don't have to like what others say about your daft, lazy and useless president, but they have every right to exercise this important aspect of our constitution which is freedom of expression say way you get to express your views against anti GEJ folks. You can not have it both ways... |
