Daily Manna: Born Like No Other! Wednesday 13, November 2013 TEXT: MATTHEW 1:18-25 KEY VERSE: “But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost” (Matthew 1:20). There are many things that made the birth of Christ very unique. It was foretold many years before He was born and every detail was fulfilled as accurately as they were predicted. His birth made angels sing, drew the attention of shepherds, brought wise men from the east and unsettled powerful monarchs. His coming changed the times and seasons such that the world’s dating system changed. But the most outstanding aspect of His birth was that it was virgin. This truth is revealed in our text today. Joseph was surprised to find his fiancé, Mary, pregnant. Unable to bear this, he decided to break the relationship. It took the intervention of God’s angel to make him understand that Mary’s pregnancy was divinely arranged. She was carrying the would-be Saviour of the world. Denying Christ’s virgin birth would be denying His deity and sinless nature. The implication of this would be that Christ was not qualified to die for, and be the Saviour of the world. But thank God, we know that the fact of His virgin birth is undeniable. Jesus is that Seed of the woman who alone was qualified to bruise the head of the serpent. And that was exactly what He did on the cross of Calvary. Believing in the doctrine of the virgin birth of Christ is key to believing His death, burial and resurrection. There is no way one can be saved and benefit from His vicarious death except through these. He alone saves from sin and the consequences of it - sickness, disease, satanic yoke, oppression, death and eternal damnation in hell. His mission is to “save His people from their sins.” He had no other mandate than this. If you will believe Him today, He will save you completely. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: He was born like no other because He had a mission like no other. ***Share your thoughts and what you've just learnt in the comments section below. Don't forget to SHARE! |
