hopelink1: sentiment and greediness will kill ndigbo. u reward ur indigenes, what about others? aliyu of niger state rewarded all of them.mr okorocha thou hath foolish
may thunder seal dat ur shit hole u call mouth for saying dis. what has ndigbo got to do wit dis? rochas did wat he thinks dat is ok for him so if u re not comfortable wit wat he did, u can hang urself. by d way hw big is five million dat rochas can't afford frm his own personal money dat will make u people to b shouting state fund or do u people think rochas is as poor as u? oboabona was rewarded alone by his state governor and no body came up and say he's a tribalist or he should hv rewarded all d team maybe oboabona won d afcon alone. as d person dat says heartland is being owe some money, dat money accumulated during ur god father (ohakim) regim so I wonder wat stoped ur god father frm paying d money dat time. y can't oder state governors reward their own indigens. u people should leave rochas alone after all ohakim dupe us for complete four years and u people saw it as a normal tin. u can call me anytin u like, it can never take anytin frm me.

Mr Aboki:

[b]It would still be a problem..

The Nigerian Governors have all turned to Donatus. They disburse state funds as if its theirs to spend as they like.

YEAH!! Its okay for Okorocha to take state funds and dash footballers.. But Stella Oduah takes Ministry funds and buys bulletproof car for the Ministry and you scream blue murder.

How many times do you see American governors and Presidents sharing state funds with reckless abandon?! If Okorocha goes to Church, he dashes the Church a bus and some millions, all from state coffers.. Time to fix roads, Okorocha has no money.. He has to go borrow. Odili in Rivers State shared so many busses to groups and praise singers that came to the Government house for free. All state money.

Its bloody wrong!! It may seem okay to you now, but such habits have to stop!

State money is for all... Expenses must be planned for and monies used properly for the state..

If you see no problems with this, then you should not see a problem with Stell Oduah buying Beemers with Ministry money!

Y are u dragging stella into this?
who told u Stella bought those cars?
.
At least I get where u are coming from, that money shdnt be wasted;unlike those saying its tribalism.
what is tribalistic about selecting ur own state indigenes and congratulating them for their efforts to the national grid?
.
And u, don't tell me this is wastage.
Since Nigerian money is enjoyed by mainly sycophants and dolts in general who doesnt contribute anything to the state, is it not better that a small part of the States cake is also kept for ppl who have done commendable tnz as this?

Kc3000: All these disingenuously enraged "patriots" screaming tribalism, please be reminded that Rochas did not reward all the Igbo players on the team, he showed some love to the boys from Imo state in his capacity as the governor of the state. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Actually, only the depressed and the cynic would find fault with such a well-disposed gesture.
This is common practice not only in Nigeria, but the world over. After the last Olympics, Michael Phelps and 8 other athletes from Maryland were honored by the state government. Maybe their Igbotic governor in Maryland should have invited the entire U.S olympic contingent to be honored by the state of Maryland. In saner climes, people cheer such developments, but in the upended pattern of typical Nigerian reasoning, some people have mischievously introduced a negative spin to a good story.
The only potential issue here is if the good people of Imo state approve of Rochas' use of state funds in such manner. To the extent of my knowledge, I haven't heard any complaints from them on this issue.
thank u bro for educating those tribalist without brains.

Chamackh: Lolz, yet to see a public officer in Nigeria who has giving to the society more than what Rochas has given, Rochas is not tribal, if he is ,he wouldn't have open Rochas foundation collage at kano, jos, ibadan, owerri and ogboko his home town freely. All this accusation of being tribal shouldn't have come into place.
Leave them, they have closed their eyes to these good tnz from rochas just because of few million naira he spent on indigenes.
tinubu even get foundation for Lagos sef, not to talk of Onitsha?

collynzo2: Ondo state government also rewarded Oboabona specially after the AFCON victory, I didn't see anyone cry because of that. It is not like Okorocha filtered out all the Igbo players and rewarded them, he only rewarded those from his state. You don't have to read tribalism into everything, only a truly tribalistic mind does that.
Mr man oboabona came through the ranks in grassroot football development in ondo state osfodec now osfa.mind you he was the captain of sunshine stars b4 moving to turkey..he was a celeb after the nations cup in the state to encourage parents out there..because in this state parents want their children to become lawyers and medical docs check out law and medical schools in naija you will be surprised by the number of students from ondo and ekiti states and in ekiti prof are valued and respected...aluko of hull city is from ekiti but can neva be highly respected compare to a young professor...

That Ndi Imo haven't complained doesn't make it right. Rochas claims to love sports but Heartland FC once the pride of Ndi Imo fought relegation this past season as a result of his careless neglect. Tell me how Iheanacho, Ezeh, Nwakali would have risen to the top If they were part of the demoralized team of Heartland.

You are a big fool! Is Rochas the first Governor to single out footballers from his state for award? What has this got to do with any tribe? Illiterate.

While the intentions of the governor are not bad, I think he failed to realise that as a leader every words spoken and every gesture made would be fully analysed. In the first place the golden eaglet's achievement was a collective one, even when we lost our star player in the second game, the others ensured that his absence was not felt. So he messed up by saying that 9 of the goals scored was from Imo state indigenes, this, in essence is simply the tribalistic shot even though I know that he is not a tribalistic person.
The success of the team was based on team work so singling out those from your state and telling us the number of goals they scored has no other first hand interpretation.

Rochas should have rewarded the entire team nomatter how little. I am from Imo state and I am ashamed of this attitude of my governor. Before Rochas joined APC,he use to be Nationalistic, now he has become discriminatory. A case of a goat that doesnt eat Yam begins to associate with goats that eat yam and suddenly starts to eat yam.

All I see here is people justifying wrong with other wrongs.
So what if others before him did same? This thread is on him so I condemn his action.
We are Nigerians, If all state governors reward all the players and coaching crew for their success, its more unity for the country, team and more money for the players and coaching crew. That's fairness and justice.
We should look forward to being good examples for others and not look to others doing wrong for justification.
God Bless Nigeria.

Nigeria is a failed country indeed.
Only in Nigeria you would see a highly-indebted state wasting scarce resources.
Those players are '17' for God's sakes.
They don't need all the money in the world right now.
I won't be surprised if all these young players become spoilt, waste all the money on women and beer, grow fat,and then fail to fufill their potential.
Nigeria need to go and learn from belgium, germany and spain how to take care of youth players.

Nice Gesture from the Governor of Imo Sate Owelle Rochas Okoroocha. This is to add to the ones given to them by our president Good Luck Jonathan. Flexing Time for the Eaglets. They Really Deserve it.
