as for the health issues they can't be easily tackled if the circumcision is done in a medical center , however you ostracize them, that's why they don't go to hospitals and prefer carry the operations themselves. they have the right to do what they want with their clitoris, I don't see you speaking against genital piercings, tattoos etc .hypocrites

The type of FGM you speak of is very common in East Africa. It's called infibulation and, as you said, deals not only with the cutting off of the clitoris but also the cutting off of the labia and sewing shut, sometimes with thorns...often with thread. It results in all sorts of health problems.
