Profanity: Is It Really Neccessary? by Graviton(m): 4:33pm On Nov 16, 2013 |
As at the mid 1990s, profanities or swearing as it was generally known then had already become a very common social vice and its use was slowly creeping into not just other countries but language as well. You could be going down a street and hear possibly a man cussing at an ATM machine for not dispensing money faster or at his computer for now booting on time. In an entirely "unrelatable" case (pardon the blunder), we see a teenager cussing and swearing just for the fun of it. Even the rather unschooled have caught on, I was passing by a bus park in abuja when I heard an agbero yell " f.uck you" at a driver who obviously didn't pat his pockets for his services. Use of words like F.uck, S'hit, goddamn and a whole host of others have become the order of the day. (Pardon me moderators, I'm just trying to get a point across) So I ask, Where are our morals?. I'm just 18 but I know our forefathers and "mothers"(this goes out to all the feminists) would never have condoned the use of these offensive words but then again what do I know?. |
