I don't blame the agents much. The amount of money involved in such deals can change someone's life forever.

Oluwaseytiano: its a fixed%. And in due time he would be playing in either Madrid, Barca, Chelsea, or other top clubs
Jorge Mendes might have a say in his transfer just like he has with Falcao. He will most likely purchase a huge % in Ihenacho's rights thus deciding his transfer when he becomes world class.

Don't believe everything those agents spew out of their mouths. They are all like leeches that suck the bloods of players.their only concern is the money and not players developments.

Amumekes violence shouldn't be excused, but someone as young as Iheanacho signing a contract at this stage of his career without the guidance of his mentors would not augur well for his career.

Man city is a bad destination and they, d probably turn him to another Shaun Wright Phillips.

Nff should get involved and sort this mess before it turns to mba or kayode type of transfer.

I think Amuneke should check himself.Keshi used such utterances against malawis coach and it was his violent behaviour that caused Nigeria a victory against Cameroon in either 91 or 93.

i think falcao's deal was complicated cos of the gentleman's agreement btw Real Madrid and A. Madrid. U can fancy falcao moving to Real in january or july.

The fact that the agent said that he would sign with Manchester City does not mean that he'll end up playing in the Manchester City senior team.

Christopher Ohenhen and Mutiu Adepoju were stars of the Nigerian U20 team (Saudi 89). They were immediately signed by Real Madrid (some say that they were paid a pittance). They ended up playing for Castilla, Real Madrid's team B, in the second division. Luckily Mutiu was able to break out of the contract and move to Santander, but Ohenhen wasn't that lucky.

. Actually he's trying to protect the boy's future, this has always been the problem of our nigerian footballers at their early stages, when its now time for them to perform, they won't give 96 percentage for their mother and father land instead its those discovered from brother and sister land that performs better So I'm urging those brother-in-law and sister-in-law concerned to try making things right ...God bless Nigeria

Dis is part of wot d NFF is planning 4d players. Dis young boys need enough counselling so dat dey won't fall into wrong hands. In my own opinion, d boys shld listen 2 woteva dier coaches say 2dem. Dey shld allow NFF to handle all dier transfer stuffs, dey want d best 4 dem. If dey don't, dey won't use dem 4d World cup. D oyinbo shld mellow and Amuneke also went 2 far by assaulting d man.

As much as this story seems to favour the american agent. I believe there's no smoke without fire. Seeing names like FC Porto and Manchester city mentioned can only mean one thing-Megamoney- for the american agent at the detriment of Iheanacho's career! It's not like signing for these clubs is not a big dream for the player but I fear for his development at a club like Man city where there's so much pressure to deliver quickly or he's kicked out! Everybody knows that the best leagues to develop as a talent are the Dutch league, German league, French league before you can now talk of the Portuguese, Italian, Spanish and the English league who seem to be interested more in the quick establishment of a player as a star! Even Amuneke's desperation only shows one thing too-he's after making money from this promising talent by all means! All these shady deals happening at the NFF too has to stop for the future of the SE if we ever dream of winning the World cup! I only hope whatever happens, they'd not stop Iheanacho's shine!

Amunike let Iheanacho progress and blossom please. Forget about greed, at least you had your own chance and you played for a good club. Don't ruin the career of this midfield maestro. I how you saved enough money while playing. I have a picture of you (Amunike), Pep and Mou. See where PEP and MOU are today and you are an assistant coach of the U-17. PEP is the number 4 jersey player. MOU is on black shirt celebrating with the other guy and my Amunike is holding his jersey. I smell a rat. If Amunike wants to be an agent, then go and open football academy. OWU THINGS!!!!!

What's wrong with that?!!! That's an opportunity to change a lot of lives, give talented young Naijas a chance to follow their dreams and nurture the next conquering Super Eagles that will someday bring the world cup home. undecided

careytommy: this is how we destroy oppurtunities of our players because of greed. Sunday Mba is not in europe because of Keshi
Shut the Fck up. You will be happy for any white man to come here and grab our highly rated players for peanuts, because they know their families will jump at 100 k dollars? Can you as a Nigerian go to America and pluck their best basketball talents for a pittance to sell and make money? Would they even let you anywhere near their players? And it is not just about being "in Europe". You need to have a good deal. Merely being "in Europe" will not create the opportunities a player like Ihenacho deserves. Ode.

naptu2: I wrote about this earlier. This is the reason why some of our U17 and U21 players do not succeed at senior level.

1) Some agents get these players (who are sometimes illiterate and un-exposed) to sign "slave contracts" with foreign clubs. These contracts tie the player to the club for ridiculous lengths of time. Sometimes the players are paid peanuts. The club and agent make money by sending the player out on loan. Sometimes the players are sent to clubs in lower divisions or in Asia. Players like Christopher Ohenhen, Ahmed Garba. (Yaro Yaro), Kenneth Zeigbo, etc have all had this problem.

www.mtnfootball.com/m/news/2010/apr/100427-mourinho-kwara-boy-in-transfer-mess.html

2) Officials in the NFA, Sports Ministry, etc demand a cut from the transfer deal, otherwise they'll ensure that the player goes nowhere.

Eye-opening!

For the umpteenth time, the reasoning capacity of some of those who have so far commented on this thread comes to question.

The American agent has come to 'reap' where he did not sow. This may be true. However, the key thing missing here is this. Has Amuneke's recommended agent made any concrete arrangements to have this boy transferred to a good club in Europe? If so, why no mention of it?

The most vital selling point an agent has is his list of contacts. If you dont have those contacts already established then any player you represent will be taking a big gamble in letting you guide him.

The american said he had come to nigeria to take iheanacho to Man City!!

For example if you were an aspiring player and you had the choice of being represented by an agent with links to some clubs in Cyprus or even no links establised at all and a different agent with links to Porto and Man City, which would you go for?

I still understand Amunekes anger though, he will not be happy at the proscoet of not gaining anything from any proposed transfer.

TIA (this is africa)

for shzle there's a difference... But these coaches trained and raised these boys, used them for the competition and now they are stars. It's best for the agent to go thru the coaches for the boys. He can just go and sign the boys just like that. I'm in support of Amunike here!

Thank you very much. What is an American even doing being a soccer agent in Africa? It reeks of one thing alone: Exploitation. They can smell desperation from a million miles away. He is simply here to exploit those he considers "dumb Africans" to fill his pockets. Thankfully, Amunike has put him in his place.
