Candidates in the Anambra governorship election have alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, registered under aged voters who turned out en masse to vote for a participating candidate in the Anambra election. The new revelations emerged from the leading candidates barely 24 hours after the INEC announced November 30 as date for the Anambra governorship supplementary elections. Displaying documents which he claimed were printed from diskettes provided by the INEC, Labour Party Candidate, Ifeanyi Ubah, showed Channels Television a copy of the INEC voters’ register with faces of children. He asked “why is APGA hesitating? Why won’t they want us to conduct a new election if really they know they have done well?” Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chris Ngige said “APGA used minors to beef up voting strength in their stronghold. So the idea is that when they beef it up, instead of the actual number of voters (that are) resident in the area being like 2,000, they get 4,000.” He alleged that this was achieved due to the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR), which was done in the state prior to the election. The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Victor Umeh has however dismissed their claims, saying it is unfounded. “The document they have was not certified by INEC and it cannot be coming from lawful custody… In this age of Information Technology where people use graphics to put all kinds of pictures in a document, I suspect that that was what they did.” http://www.channelstv.com/home/2013/11/23/anambra-election-labour-party-apc-provide-new-evidence/ |

When did Channels Tv turned to a Tribunal/Court. On. What grounds did they tender d evidence, who cross examined the evidence, is the so called evidence admissible in law? So anybody can pick up a piece of paper and term it evidence. They should just wait for the Tribunal. 1 Like |

It's very dificult 4 Nigeria to be a good place with this kind of act of rigging and the kind of support some people give them. Even if u don't like yoruba party (APC) and they rigged them out with joy, what about LP or PDP? |

I read thru comments of pple on anambra state election, I just laugh how pple just form opinion from comments by losers. I was on ground, yes there was pocket cases of violence and disenfranchisement here and thr, but does this invalidates evry other place whr elections was free and fair? NO Money for vote was not only done by one party, pdp were the highest payers on the day. Even prince arthur eze openly promised N5m for any ward that delivered tony nwoye. Money played a crucial role, pple sold their votes, others collected money and voted for who they wanted. Does it make anambra state the worse election? NO. Pls Google enugu local council elections 2013 APC still have a chance to send anambra guber election to a runoff, let them concentrate on the election on nov 30th, since idemmili is their strong hold As for ifeanyi ubah, he was sorrounded by praise singers that only wanted to eat a part of his money. In most polling units I visited he didn't have an agent. He should stop crying, we only ate a little of the subsidy money he stole. 1 Like |
